The Wine Challenge Series with Dave Sokolin and leading wine critic James Suckling is back! This time around, for the summer wine series, the tasting is appropriately filmed at Dave Sokolin’s beach house where he and James taste a few summer whites. In this segment, the rules remain the same as before. James challenges Dave to show him 3 whites, $20 dollars or less that Dave believes are 90 points or more. Once again, Dave pulls it off. Watch the video to find out which white wines are part of the challenge. You can purchase any of these wines by clicking on the links below.

Stay tuned for more episodes with Dave and James as the summer days continue!

Here at Sokolin, we pride ourselves not only on our vast inventory of fine back-vintage wines from top global regions, but also on our selection of wines that are inexpensive but still super-high quality. So we welcomed James’ challenge.

Here’s the rundown of the first challenge of the summer wine series:

2011 St. Michael-Eppan Pinot Grigio Anger 90 points JS

“This wine transcends what I’ve seen possible in Pinot Grigio in terms of richness, finesse and overall quality." – Dave Sokolin

What James said: “Canned pears with lemon and minerals, fresh fruit and lots of good acidity. Clean and lively.” – James Suckling

2010 Fournier Sancerre Les Belles Vignes 91 points JS

“Laser focused, pristine Sancerre that begs for summertime seafood and shellfish meals.” – Dave Sokolin

What James said: “Full and very fruity with bright acidity and a long intense finish. Says Sancerre!” – James Suckling

2010 Vincent Dampt Chablis 91 points JS

“A perfect Chablis for summertime that has all the elements found in the most expensive 1er Crus.” – Dave Sokolin

What James said: “Rich and dense with a mango and papaya character as well as minerals. Full and bright with fresh acidity.” – James Suckling

Cheers
