A Great Burgundy Value from a Dream Vintage

2010 Claude Dugat Bourgogne RougeThe 2010 Claude Dugat Bourgogne Rouge has all the prerequisites to be a great wine.  It is made by a long-time and well-known Burgundy producer, and it is of the sought-after 2010 vintage.

The 2010 Burgundy vintage yielded a small production, and it was given grand reviews.

Antonio Galloni from Vinous Media (and formerly of Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate) said this about the 2010 Burgundy vintage: “The wines are racy, show fabulous minerality and are very true to site. In other words, the vintage embodies all of the qualities that make red Burgundy one of the world’s most compelling wines.”

Domaine Claude Dugat is located in Gevrey Chambertin, which is a wine village in the famous Cote de Nuits. Claude Dugat is considered one of Burgundy’s premier producers.  He farms all his vineyards organically and produces very limited quantities.

I recently tasted the 2010 Claude Dugat Bourgogne Rouge among friends.  It is a medium body wine with notes of dark berries and elegant floral spices and is well-balanced with a rich finish.  It pairs nicely with grilled salmon and potatoes au gratin.  This wine is perfect for a night in with family or friends.

“Claude Dugat's 2010s are fabulous. The wines have a sense of tension and transparency that serves to balance the richness of the fruit that is the hallmark of the house style.” - Antonio Galloni

At $46.95, the 2010 Claude Dugat Bourgogne Rouge is worth taking a few cases of to have on hand, especially for last minute entertaining.  With such small production of the 2010 vintage, there will not be much to go around, so it’s a good idea to buy it before it’s gone.
