Wine Critic Reviews:

The 1976 Yquem continues to go from strength to strength. Who can ignore the awesome bouquet of spices, honeyed fruit, pineapples, bananas, coconuts, and overripe melons? This full-bodied, viscous, luscious wine has been absolutely delicious since bottling, given its relatively low acidity and precocious personality. It is one of the few true great vintages of Yquem that can actually be drunk with tremendous pleasure at such a young age. Eighty percent of the harvest made it into the final wine. Anticipated maturity: Now-2025.

Sokolin 1976 d'Yquem Tasting Notes:

The regal sophistication of Chateau d'Yquem is renowned worldwide. This makes the vintage of 1976 stand out even more, being one of the pinnacle moments of an already towering line. Dark copper and gorgeously perfumed with high nose of tangerines, buttered toast and honey, this luscious wine feels like sunshine in a glass. It steadily opens up to exhibit unparalleled complexion, its cheerful caramel character embroidered with pineapple and creamy, cafe latte details. A pure hedonistic indulgence flushing in sweet waves, with a tail as long and concentrated as the midsummer daylight.

If this wine isn't in your shopping cart already, what are you waiting for? Bursting with beams of golden hues and tropical fruit splendour, the 1976 d'Yquem will have you believe you're far away on an island beach without a worry in the world. Uncork a bottle now or leave it to mature a few years longer to see if it can get any better than it already is.
