Wine Critic Reviews:

A candidate for the wine of the vintage, the 2007 Lafite Rothschild... reveals classic Lafite aromas of graphite, unsmoked cigar tobacco, black currants, cherries, and a hint of truffles. The complex aromatics are followed by a round, medium to full-bodied wine with silky tannins, an overall subtle smoky component, and a rich, round, generous, plump finish. Already evolved and delicious, it should continue to drink well for two decades.

Sokolin 2017 Lafite Rothschild Tasting Notes:

No matter what we tell you, you will not believe how magnificent this wine is despite its young age. And it's even more unimaginable that with time, it will only become more spellbinding, if that's possible. The 2017 Lafite Rothschild will make you wish you had a time travelling machine so you could go one or two decades into the future to taste it because no one is that patient.

This radiant wine already beams with beauty. Its aromas are so discreet and they slowly make their path to your nose, gently winning you over. You can already feel how well-balanced this wine is, even before it reaches your palate and your throat. On the palate, it's an enjoyable journey from light to dark, from cherries to plum, a journey through layers of sweetness and acidity, through juicy and delightful tannins, to an amazing aftertaste that will linger around for a while.

Region Bordeaux: Even among the greatest and most reputable wine regions on the planet, Bordeaux stands above the rest. The winemakers of this region have a single-minded dedication to the fine art of viticulture and their efforts never fail to show. If you consider yourself a fine wine enthusiast, you owe it to yourself to visit Bordeaux - life changing. Whether you wish to drink some inspirational and gripping wine as soon as possible, or you want to add some masterpieces to your collection, no region on Earth is a more obvious choice. The noble and beautiful Garonne and Dordogne rivers surge through southwestern France, enriching the soil in a way very few other places can boast. The limestone-based earth is rich in calcium, and the almost oceanic climate conditions give the staple Bordeaux grape varietals vigor and flavor like nowhere else. For their illustrious reds, Bordeaux winemakers rely on a proven combination of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Meanwhile, a sip of their excellent white wine hints at the use of Semillon, Muscadelle and Sauvignon Blanc. Each of these varietals carries a unique identity, making every quality wine a character piece to rival Citizen Kane. It can be incredibly hard to choose only a few wines to collect for your cellar!
Type of Wine Bordeaux Red: Picture in your mind a combination of cedar, lead pencil, blackcurrant, plum and mineral aromatics, and texture that caresses your palate like a playful lover. The experience is thrilling from the first whiff to the final seconds of a tannic, generous finish - that is what you'll get from a Bordeaux Red
Varietal Bordeaux Blend: Since its birth in France, the art of Bordeaux-inspired blends has been brought to regions like California, and Washington, where New World visionaries add their own unique spin to the formula, creating mouth-watering tributes to Bordeaux's viticultural greatness. Today, with a compelling cultural mixture, sampling Bordeaux blends is more excited than ever.

  1. tastes like a dream
    Product Rating
I admit I have been a bit skeptical about tasting this wine at first, but I stumbled upon it during a blind tasting event and I couldn't avoid it. Nor should I have! I would've never found out what I had been missing on! This Rothschild tastes like a dream. It's such a baby, but already so powerful. I can only imagine the future that lies ahead of it. It will be absolutely sublime and unparalleled once it reaches full maturity. And it definitely has strong aging potential.

This is almost pure Cabernet Sauvignon, one of my favorites, so I really can't be impartial here. No matter what my preferences are, this wine is a must-have - at least in my book. If you enjoy fruity wines, plums, dark cherries, and currants, you'll adore this baby. Let it settle and be surprised in the decades to come!

  2. Drinkable and gentle on the palate
    Product Rating
I feel unable to form a complete impression about this Lafite Rothschild because it's still too young. It does show a lot of potential, and it's undoubtedly worthy of its name, but it's really important to let it settle and wait for a few years to give it a proper grade.

For now, I can tell there's much harmony - great acidity, splendid tannins, fantastic texture. Drinkable and gentle on the palate. The nose opens up quite quickly, there are some black currants and black tea. On the palate, you can feel cassis, truffle, lots of sweetness. It's dense, with a good aftertaste. I want to give it another chance in a few more years, I feel like it will blow me away when it's fully mature. But then again, you can never go wrong with a Pauillac. The absolute kind among Cabernet and Merlot blends.
