5 White Wines Dave Sokolin is Pouring All Summer Long

I keep sending cases of these white wines to my beach house. Everyone at my place is just loving the selections below! They’ve been the most popular for seafood dishes and grilling. I can’t say enough about these reasonably priced wines!

2015 Les Hauts De Smith Blanc: If you’re searching for something other than white Burgundy, here’s the perfect solution. At only $29.95, this Bordeaux Blanc (91-93 RP) even gets me excited! Smith Haut Lafitte has become one of the most iconic producers in all of Bordeaux. Widely known for their 100-point red wines, their white wines are just as good. We recently tried this Haut de Smith Blanc at the chateau, and we were blown away! When we were told the price, we took every case available at only $29.95. It tastes like a $100 bottle!

2014 Michel Niellon Chassagne Montrachet: Niellon, THE top producer in Chassagne, has produced an amazing vintage in 2014, not coincidentally one of the greatest white Burgundy vintages of the millennium. Despite the highest pedigree of this producer, he is still making reasonably priced wines that compete with the world’s most expensive wines. This is pedigree galore, and you can taste it. At only $43.99, this is Chassagne’s best producer for a steal.

2014 Antinori Cervaro Della Sala: This is the benchmark for Italian white wine. For years, people coming back from Italy asked me about it. It’s a real wow wine from Antinori, who is most famous for the stellar reds, like Tignanello. And this white wine is on that level. Refreshing, bright and crisp. At only $47.99 with 96 points, this is one to pour at your summer parties.

2015 Guigal Condrieu la Doriane: I would pop this 99-point white Rhone against any $700 bottle of Le Montrachet! It’s on that level, and it’s priced at only $87.99 / bottle. Guigal is considered to be one of the best producers on the planet, and this is his great white wine. I’m loving this bottle with summer fish, soups and shellfish. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

2013 Louis Latour Corton Charlemagne: This 97-point rated Grand Cru is priced 50% less than others, yet I prefer it to the rest! While others have raised their prices, this legend has only raised the quality. It’s an old school legend in one of its best vintages. The 2013 vintage is timeless and magical. It seems to defy logic with its ability to drink great today, yet will age gracefully for decades. Critic, James Suckling, said, “Drink, if you can find it.” I couldn’t agree more.
