One of Sokolin’s Best Selling Cabernets

With the holidays quickly approaching, it’s time to start planning what gifts you will be giving to loved ones, coworkers and everyone in between.  If you still haven’t decided on the perfect bottle of wine, look no further than the latest release from Waterstone Winery, the 2012 Waterstone Cabernet Sauvignon.

Year after year the Waterstone Cabernet is one of our best-sellers and the reasons why are simple: this wine is fabulous and always a great value. As Dave Sokolin said about the 2012 vintage, "It tastes like a California Cult wine, and there is some cult wine in the blend. Only this one is $25.95, and not $700/bottle!" This bottle should be on every wine-lover’s mind and table this year.

The 2012 growing season was ideal for producers in California, harvesting large quantities of quality fruit which excited the North Coast. Upon tasting my first bottle of the 2012 Waterstone Cabernet, the first word that came to mind was ‘perfect’.  This vintage is going to be a classic, and I cannot wait to see how this wine evolves over the next few years.

I decided this bottle was a perfect match for my Thursday evening ritual which usually consists of a bottle of wine and good friends sitting around my kitchen table telling stories and laughing until our cheeks hurt.  This particular Thursday evening we decided to decorate the house while enjoying a glass or two.  Just as I expected, this Cabernet went beautifully with the twinkling lights, the joyous music and our meat and cheese tray which offered prosciutto, salami, parmesan and asiago. I couldn’t have opened a better bottle for this occasion.

If you are in need of an easy drinking Cabernet for the holidays or simply to have on hand as your house wine, I highly suggest the 2012 Waterstone Cabernet Sauvignon. Priced at only $25.95 per bottle and with a 92 point rating from James Suckling, this is one gift you will want to give others as well as yourself!

“With its Bordeaux-like presence, this wine is deep, rich, and lingering. Firm, integrated tannins frame the concentrated, dark fruit (currant, black cherry, wild berry, plum.) Toasty oak and an earthy edge add to the wine's great complexity.” Waterstone Winery
