Cabernet Sauvignon Wines

Known for its traditional flavor, full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon wine is the most famous dry wine to be served with food. As a world’s most dominant red wine-grape variety, it is cultivated all around the world, although many might predominantly associate it with the red wines of Bordeaux, where it is combined with Merlot to create many crucial and influential blends. Besides Bordeaux, this grape varietal is mostly present in Tuscany, Napa Valley, Australia, and Chile.

It doesn’t take a veteran wine-lover to enjoy Cabernet Sauvignon wines on the surface, as their flavor is unique and compelling. It does, however, take an expert to pick up on all the subtleties and fully appreciate the complexity, craftsmanship, and dedication that radiate from a wine of this quality. Cabernet Sauvignon wines have an alcohol content that hovers around 13.5%, and a signature deep, dark color – the very blood of the grapes, bottled and preserved for our enjoyment and dissection. The thickness and richness of the texture only add to this comparison, making the crimson nectar feel alive in the glass. The level of tannin present in the wine will sap the moisture from your mouth, and what better way to fix that issue than with another glass? Tasting Cabernet Sauvignon is tasting a large portion of winemaking history, and very few people can turn down a glass. A must-have for your collection, for sure.

2018 nickel and nickel cabernet sauvignon state ranch California Red

Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon State Ranch was aged for 18 months in French oak, 50% new. Deep garnet-purple in color, the nose is redolent of chocolate-covered cherries, blackberry preserves and black currant jelly with touches of wild sage, cast iron pan and cardamom with a waft of cumin seed. Full-bodied, the palate bursts with crunchy black fruit and loads of spicy accents, supported by firm grainy tannins and tons of freshness, finishing long and lively.Robert Parker Wine Advocate | 95 RPThe 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon State Ranch is soft, open-knit and wonderfully inviting. Silky tannins wrap around a core of red-toned fruit. Sweet cherry, cedar, pipe tobacco and mocha are all laced together. The State Ranch is not quite as deep or powerful as some of the other wines in the range, but on the plus side, it will drink well with only minimal cellaring.Antonio Galloni | 94 AGIn the same style, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon State Ranch has a medium to full-bodied style as well as already complex notes of red and black currants, baking spices, dried herbs, and earth. It's rich, nicely concentrated, and balanced.Jeb Dunnuck | 94 JDAttractive aromas of blackcurrant and blueberry with some dark chocolate and hazelnut. It’s full-bodied and juicy with lots of fruit and hazelnut at the end. Better in 2023.James Suckling | 94 JSThis thickly concentrated wine is brimming in leather and dried herb tones. Black fruit dominates and broods along the rounded, velvety palate, offering luxury and complexity in equal measure.Wine Enthusiast | 93 WEThis is well-built, with cassis, crushed plum and blackberry fruit flavors that stretch out slowly and surely, inlaid with graphite, sweet tobacco and violet accents throughout. Ample tarry grip on the back end will need some cellaring to unwind. Best from 2022 through 2032. 4,881 cases made.Wine Spectator | 92 WS
