Wine Critic Reviews:

A spicy aroma of cedar and cinnamon, followed by raspberry and cherry flavors, a soft texture. Finishes with sweet fruit and firm tannins. Deceptively attractive now, but it should improve for five years or more in the cellar. A good buy for Bordeaux...

Sokolin 1985 Gazin Tasting Notes:

Any wine can be tasty, but this one is incredibly delightful. Any wine can be elegant, but this one moves as gracefully as a swan. You can probably enjoy almost any wine you stumble upon, but there are only a few selected ones you can say you truly adore. The 1985 Gazin is definitely one of those.

A gorgeous Cabernet and Merlot blend, with oaky and chocolaty nose and deliciously combined flavors of blackberries and plum. You can never stay indifferent to a Pomerol wine, especially when it has such a long tradition and a well-known name for a reason. A bit past its peak, it can still benefit from a bit of air and impress you with its lovely tannins, sweet taste and flawlessly balanced acidity. Drink now to experience the full pleasure this wine can offer and enjoy the long-lasting finish.

Country France: Words fail us when trying to adequately portray France's place in the world of wine. It's downright impossible to imagine what wine would feel and taste like had it not been for France's many, many viticultural pioneers. Fine wine is the blood of France's vigorously beating heart, and it finds itself in many aspects of French culture. With a viticultural history that dates all the way back to the 6th century BC, France now enjoys its position as the most famous and reputable wine region on the planet. If you have a burning passion for masterfully crafted, mouth-watering, mind-expanding wines, then regular visits to France are probably already in your schedule, and for a good reason.
Producer Gazin: With a tradition spanning all the way from 1772 to today, Chateau Gazin continues to push the boundaries of quality and precision when it comes to making fine, delicious wines. Merlot receives a whopping 90% representation, with Cabernet Sauvignon making up 6% and Cabernet Franc having a modest 4%. This unique combination of varietal influence creates a memorable taste, and the wines seem to turn out perfect or almost perfect every single time. It is this consistency that has propelled Chateau Gazin into a position of dominance on the global market, and their wines are in high demand. The wines are expressive and forward in their approach. They wear their flavor profiles on their sleeve, but that doesn't mean the vintners don't have a flair for the subtle.

Region Bordeaux: Even among the greatest and most reputable wine regions on the planet, Bordeaux stands above the rest. The winemakers of this region have a single-minded dedication to the fine art of viticulture and their efforts never fail to show. The noble and beautiful Garonne and Dordogne rivers surge through southwestern France, enriching the soil in a way very few other places can boast. The limestone-based earth is rich in calcium, and the almost oceanic climate conditions give the staple Bordeaux grape varietals vigor and flavor like nowhere else. For their illustrious reds, Bordeaux winemakers rely on a proven combination of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Meanwhile, a sip of their excellent white wine hints at the use of Semillon, Muscadelle and Sauvignon Blanc. Each of these varietals carries a unique identity, making every quality wine a character piece to rival Citizen Kane. It can be incredibly hard to choose only a few wines to collect for your cellar!
