1994 Latour- 750 ml
Wine Critic Reviews:
All of the wines in this segment were tasted between March 19 and March 28 in Bordeaux. Most of the important wines from both the 1994 and 1995 vintages were tasted three separate times during my ten-day stay in Bordeaux.

Very deep ruby-red. Pungent, inky, nutty aromas of blackcurrants and minerals; very sexy oak treatment gives the nose a wonderful sweetness. Big, minerally, and shapely, with lovely purity of dark berry flavor. Has clarity and grip, but not quite the richness of the '95. The tannins build in the glass, but are in harmony with the wine's middle palate material. Uncanny length for the vintage.

Classic Cabernet style. Intense aromas of plums and cherries, with hints of new wood. Full-bodied, with juicy and ripe tannins and a long finish. Very well-structured.--Latour vertical. Best after 2003.

Sokolin 1994 Latour Tasting Notes:
Walnuts and cassis are some of the more interesting flavor notes on display here, with a touch of textbook paper and smoke to round out the experience. As mentioned, the texture is quite chewy and will leave your tastebuds stimulated even after the finish fades out. Expect the flavors to shine brightest until 2035 – plenty of time to uncork a few bottles in front of thirsty guests!

|Country||France: Words fail us when trying to adequately portray France's place in the world of wine. It's downright impossible to imagine what wine would feel and taste like had it not been for France's many, many viticultural pioneers. Fine wine is the blood of France's vigorously beating heart, and it finds itself in many aspects of French culture. With a viticultural history that dates all the way back to the 6th century BC, France now enjoys its position as the most famous and reputable wine region on the planet. If you have a burning passion for masterfully crafted, mouth-watering, mind-expanding wines, then regular visits to France are probably already in your schedule, and for a good reason.|
|Producer||Latour: The Chateau Latour earned a prestigious First Growth spot in the Bordeaux 1855 Classification, and its track record is jaw-dropping for even the most distinguished wine connoisseurs. The vineyards themselves are reminiscent of gorgeous and complex garden mazes from tales of fantasy, with a distribution of 76% Cabernet Sauvigno, 22% Merlot, and 2% Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. This combination comes together perfectly when grounded with an earthy undertone and punctuated with succulent cherries, lush mint, bold spice or a delicate yet sharp tobacco flavor. These bottles are the ideal partner to a robust evening cigar, as the worries of your life fade into the smoke, and the orchestral perfume of flavors sings to you like a muse, inspiring you towards new triumphs and achievements.|
|Region||Bordeaux: Even among the greatest and most reputable wine regions on the planet, Bordeaux stands above the rest. The winemakers of this region have a single-minded dedication to the fine art of viticulture and their efforts never fail to show. If you consider yourself a fine wine enthusiast, you owe it to yourself to visit Bordeaux - life changing. Whether you wish to drink some inspirational and gripping wine as soon as possible, or you want to add some masterpieces to your collection, no region on Earth is a more obvious choice. The noble and beautiful Garonne and Dordogne rivers surge through southwestern France, enriching the soil in a way very few other places can boast. The limestone-based earth is rich in calcium, and the almost oceanic climate conditions give the staple Bordeaux grape varietals vigor and flavor like nowhere else. For their illustrious reds, Bordeaux winemakers rely on a proven combination of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Meanwhile, a sip of their excellent white wine hints at the use of Semillon, Muscadelle and Sauvignon Blanc. Each of these varietals carries a unique identity, making every quality wine a character piece to rival Citizen Kane. It can be incredibly hard to choose only a few wines to collect for your cellar!|
|Type of Wine||Bordeaux Red: Picture in your mind a combination of cedar, lead pencil, blackcurrant, plum and mineral aromatics, and texture that caresses your palate like a playful lover. The experience is thrilling from the first whiff to the final seconds of a tannic, generous finish - that is what you'll get from a Bordeaux Red|
|Varietal||Bordeaux Blend: Since its birth in France, the art of Bordeaux-inspired blends has been brought to regions like California, and Washington, where New World visionaries add their own unique spin to the formula, creating mouth-watering tributes to Bordeaux's viticultural greatness. Today, with a compelling cultural mixture, sampling Bordeaux blends is more excited than ever.|
It's a bit sweeter and sort of chewy, but we loved every bit of it.For established fans of Latour, this vintage might seem odd, and I can totally understand that. The blend is different when it comes to varietal coverage, which makes these bottles an adventure. My brother and I wanted to surprise our father for Father's Day, so we splurged and purchased several bottles from producers he treasures. This bottle took the prize at the end of the evening, as well as a good review here. It's a bit sweeter and sort of chewy, but we loved every bit of it. Definitely worth a purchase if you're in the mood for something different.
It's a sweet, seductive wine that lures you in but only rewards a developed palate.A unique vintage for this producer, fans of Latour will discover a bit more Merlot in their mouth than usual. Some people may not be a fan of such changes, but I welcome them, as I find the chewy, fleshy texture that Merlot adds very compelling. It's a sweet, seductive wine that lures you in but only rewards a developed palate. High on tannin, and diverse and playful in its aromatic cocktail.<br/>The good news is that you can drink this wine today or cellar it - it's up to you; both options yield a mouth-watering result. A very warm recommendation on my part.
