I didn't fall in love with the wine, sadly, but his appreciation is all I needed to see.I secretly ordered a bottle of 1996 Latour to surprise my husband for our 26th anniversary. He's a big Latour fan, and the look on his face was priceless when he unpackaged it. He likes to sit in the lounge and slowly deconstruct his wines, or just talk about them to anyone interested. When he told me this is one of the producer's best vintages, he had such nostalgia in his voice. We reminisced about our younger days and had one of the most entertaining evenings in a very long time. I didn't fall in love with the wine, sadly, but his appreciation is all I needed to see.
It's almost impossibly pure and concentratedIf you know anything about Latour's rich history, you know that this vintage is one of the most remarkable ever to grace our planet. You just need to take a sniff, and the ride begins. Plums, spices, nuts, olives, it all comes together to create a complex and infinitely alluring bouquet of aromatics. On the palate, it's almost impossibly pure and concentrated, to the point where you'd think you're eating the fruit instead!<br/>You can drink it now or hold for a decade or so. Having a couple of bottles in your cellar is a real quick ticket to long-term fulfillment, let me tell you.
