Wine Critic Reviews:

Lafite's second wine has become stronger over recent vintages as the selection for the grand vin has become Draconian under administrator Charles Chevalier. The dense ruby/purple-tinged 2004 Carruades de Lafite (48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 47% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot) exhibits sweet, crunchy, savory, black cherry, and raspberry fruit along with hints of road tar, spring flowers, and a touch of minerality. Sokolin 2004 Carruades de Lafite Tasting Notes:

We all feel like having a potent, racy drink from time to time to stir things up and clear our minds. For these, and many other occasions, the 2004 vintage is just what the doctor ordered. Dark, almost ink-like in color, this vintage showcases a wonderful balance between refinement and vigor, every bit as complex and veiled as it looks to the eye.

Its bouquet is open and intense, a cocktail of raspberry, black currant, cedar, spice, smoke, herbs, and florals oozing out of the glass almost visibly. The aromatics translate into the palate with an even greater urgency and depth against a backdrop of tobacco, graphite, black olives, and tar, always getting back to the savory and herbal chorus.

The wine is big on dusky ambiance as it gallops with captivating tenacity and luscious texture, erasing all else from your mind and unraveling for as long of a time as you allow it. It's one of those wines that get better the longer you spend with it.

A single bottle in your cellar goes a long way, because who knows when you might need it to dazzle a colleague, celebrate an anniversary or perhaps gift it to a loved one. Never get caught off guard again with this gorgeous wine keeping you company like a true friend.

Region Bordeaux: Even among the greatest and most reputable wine regions on the planet, Bordeaux stands above the rest. The winemakers of this region have a single-minded dedication to the fine art of viticulture and their efforts never fail to show. If you consider yourself a fine wine enthusiast, you owe it to yourself to visit Bordeaux - life changing. Whether you wish to drink some inspirational and gripping wine as soon as possible, or you want to add some masterpieces to your collection, no region on Earth is a more obvious choice. The noble and beautiful Garonne and Dordogne rivers surge through southwestern France, enriching the soil in a way very few other places can boast. The limestone-based earth is rich in calcium, and the almost oceanic climate conditions give the staple Bordeaux grape varietals vigor and flavor like nowhere else. For their illustrious reds, Bordeaux winemakers rely on a proven combination of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Meanwhile, a sip of their excellent white wine hints at the use of Semillon, Muscadelle and Sauvignon Blanc. Each of these varietals carries a unique identity, making every quality wine a character piece to rival Citizen Kane. It can be incredibly hard to choose only a few wines to collect for your cellar!
