Wine Critic Reviews:

...It has a wondrous bouquet, very sensual and pure with blackberry, graphite and cedar - all the hallmarks of Pauillac, delivered with great panache. It is more opulent than I recall. The palate is medium-bodied with silky tannins, pitch-perfect acidity and a beautiful structure. There is a regal sense to this Lafite, understated compared to the other First Growths and yet the persistence on the finish deserves a round of applause, especially in the context of the vintage. This is superb and could possibly turn out to be the pick of the Firsts...

  1. for now it seems a bit shy but with a lot of potential.

Cool and leafy on the nose, as if acting aloof, though there are plenty of fruit juices in the air that lured me in. The wine is sprightly but all about the poise, gentle and caressing in every way. Herbs and graphite deepen into the palate of wild berries with a focused direction and gentle mouth feel. A lovely medium-weight wine with a sweet, fragrant finish. It's clearly a slow-bloomer of the bunch and needs to let in more, for now it seems a bit shy but with a lot of potential. Wife loved the airy, delicate atmosphere this wine provides but I prefer the old-school Lafite, seasoned and unrestrained.

My wife and I attended a friend's party and were introduced to this beautiful wine then and there. Though we both share a sweet tooth when it comes to wine, this bottle was enough to convince us to be more open to experiment, if not completely convert us to savory red. We loved it! The colorful aromas, the incredibly precise palate of minerals and leafy greens and some tobacco alongside the red berry character, the softness of the texture and tannins despite the wine being so potent and rich. It didn't leave a dry feel as we feared; instead of it was a thrilling opulence and grace, the taste lingered on and on. A charming surprise and a vintage we will never forget.
