needs very little to become perfectThis bottle has had a special context from me from the moment I was presented with it. Uncorked at an intimate party and drank alongside venison dinner, the wine was a hit. Deeply rich and opulent and full of berries on the nose, opening up into chocolate and menthol and tobacco without a sip. The palate was outstanding with ripe cherries and tobacco and it's presented with plenty of velocity and poise. The slight edge on the tannins served us well in the context of our meal, but could stand to loosen up in strength and bring out more of the wonderful berry flavor and detail on its own. The finish is a firework of dark, plum fruit and leather and everybody thoroughly enjoyed it. It needs so little to become really perfect and it's obviously a matter of time, just a couple of years, and I'll gladly come to promote it to five stars when it does.
A perfect showing of animalistic power incorporated into the Lafite's charming elegance like a lethal weapon, controlled and seductiveSimply stunning. The wine's incredibly fragrant with ripe cherries and tobacco from the second it's poured into the glass. The rich, dense dark crimson was such a powerful sight on its own, my group felt as though it should have been opened in some hall to do it justice. The palate was swirling and wild with berries and some flowers and such minerality but still silky without a hair out of place. It put on quite a show and had us on our knees before it was even finished as this took so long and mid-way through you could tell you're in for a treat like no other. A perfect showing of animalistic power incorporated into the Lafite's charming elegance like a lethal weapon, controlled and seductive. An important and memorable presence that we'd be delighted to witness again.
