Sokolin 2006 Carruades de Lafite Tasting Notes:

Like a volcano threatening to burst any second, this wine can't wait for you to uncork the bottle and pour yourself a glass. The content of the bottle is chillier than lava, of course, and far more enjoyable. You'll know it immediately upon releasing all those fantastic aromas that whirl in the air in front of you and play with your nose, inviting you to take a deep dive into your glass as soon as possible.

Take a moment to soak in the gorgeous bouquet of forest floor scents, currants, and cherries, with some floral notes in the background, wonderfully complementing the combination that might remind you of a classy Pomerol wine. These aromatics are one of the elements that make this Lafite such an elegant Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot blend, with small portions of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.

This full-bodied red displays some remarkable flavors contained in the vibrant, slightly acidic liquid which flows so easily over your taste buds and down your throat warming up every inch of your body on its way. The entree is sweet, with dashes of chocolate and the same flowers you could find on the nose, and the typical currants unavoidable in a Cabernet Sauvignon blend. Touches of minerality and herbal tones give it unique freshness and a splendid lively personality that will make you believe this wine is younger than it really is. The silky feeling turns into a long-lasting, pleasant aftertaste that you'll certainly be able to enjoy for five to ten more years.

For their illustrious reds, Bordeaux winemakers rely on a proven combination of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Meanwhile, a sip of their excellent white wine hints at the use of Semillon, Muscadelle and Sauvignon Blanc. Each of these varietals carries a unique identity, making every quality wine a character piece to rival Citizen Kane. It can be incredibly hard to choose only a few wines to collect for your cellar!
