One of the top producers in Canon-Fronsac, this estate’s 36-acre vineyard was cropped at 20 hectoliters per hectare in 2010 (a blend of 95% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and Malbec) and hit 14.5% natural alcohol. Stephane Derenoncourt consults at this property. The beautiful 2010 boasts an opaque purple color, the unmistakable chalky minerality that comes from these limestone soils, mulberry and blueberry fruit, a full-bodied mouthfeel and stunning concentration as well as depth. There is some serious tannin lurking under the extravagant fruit, meaning this cuvee is capable of lasting 15-20 years. It is a sleeper of the vintage.

Bright medium ruby-red. Very ripe aromas of dark plum and mocha. Rich and pliant but not overly sweet, with excellent concentration and sexy soil tones to the flavors of black raspberry, plum, minerals, toffee, mocha and chocolate. This nicely saline wine is more classic and shapely, not to mention less exotic, than the 2009 version.
