Wine Critic Reviews:

From a site on the Wahluke Slope, the 2016 Syrah Milbrandt reveals a ruby/plum color as well as evolved, Graves-like aromas of tobacco, earth, iron, and asphalt, with plenty of earthy dark fruit. It builds nicely with time in the glass, has ripe tannins, and terrific balance, and it’s a steal at the price. Drink bottles over the coming 7-8 years.

(this is the only high-end K Vintners red fermented in stainless steel; then aged in puncheons, 25% new, for no more than 15 months; from two proximate vineyards, one on sandy river rock, the other on limestone and volcanic broken basalt): Dark red with ruby tones. Pungent aromas of cassis, blueberry, prosciutto, licorice, menthol, mint and minerals. Juicy and intense, conveying an exhilarating combination of sweetness and lively acidity to its red and darker berry and spice flavors. A savory element provides a further leavening influence. Finishes long, with firm but suave tannins. Lovely wine with real personality.

A blend of two plots, this is fermented as whole clusters in stainless steel and aged in puncheons (25% new) for 15 months. Savory and tarry notes with dried-cherry aromas and flavors, too. There’s freshness and long-form tannin depth from extended maceration here, which holds this wine long and even. Drink this for a decade from now.

Beginning with a fresh, ripe and juicy core of black plum, savory holiday ham and blackberry fresh from the bush, the 2016 Syrah Milbrandt Vineyard wafts with healthy fruit tones and a dusty black pepper note. Rich and inviting in the mouth, the wine is both ripe and tannic on the palate. It's a solid wine for the price and is structured to age just beyond its 10th birthday. Only 1,800 cases made for this value and quality-driven wine.

Country US: As one of the most prolific and innovative wine regions in the world, America is a joy to explore. Most wine connoisseurs will agree that the nation's finest and most compelling wines are being produced today, which means that we have front-row seats to one of the most inspirational stories in wine history. While other regions tend to focus on specific wine styles and have somewhat strict rules as to which varietals you could grow, areas like California have few such restrictions in place. As a result, creative visionaries behind America's most reputable estates have been able to develop compelling, unique, and innovative styles, with a level of terroir expression that rivals even France's largest giants.
Producer K Vintner: While K Vintner is incredibly young in the grand scheme of things (having opened their doors in 2001), their reputation is growing at an incredibly rapid pace. If you're in the mood for an inspirational, classy Syrah, this Washington wonder will take care of all your needs. Their reds are potent, multi-layered, and precise, exhibiting exceptional finesse and structure. The fruit is perfectly ripe, and the aromatic traces are as diverse as they are intoxicating. Picture an aromatic collage of dark fruit, cherry compote, wet mineral, espresso, and sweet pepper; these are only some of the many subtle hints and traces you could discover. For how good their wines are, the price range is shockingly accessible, so make sure you reserve your bottles on time!

Region Washington: While California definitely owns the spotlight when it comes to excellent American wines, Washington winemakers should certainly not be underestimated. While their traditional focus was set firmly on refreshing, illustrious white wines, they've adopted French red varietals like Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Since then, they've been achieving excellence in both categories and can compete with the world's most prestigious viticultural titans. Flavor-wise, you can expect a healthy amount of variety when it comes to Washington's finest wines. From acidic and fruity bottles that can shake you up from even the deepest slumber or sadness to rich and ripe powerhouses that command the respect of everyone in the room after as much as a single whiff. Juicy raspberries that gently tickle your tongue, deep and noble blackberries, intense cherries and earthen oak - these are the flavors that characterize this region, despite the presence of an entire orchestral symphony of other aromatic notes. A sampling of fine wine from Washington is a lot like being seduced, so why not uncork one of these bottles for a potential or existing partner? With a drink of this quality, those romantic sparks will turn into a fireworks display, as your emotions are laid bare and intensified, and you make a connection that can last a lifetime.
