Wine Critic Reviews:

(Chablis “Vaillons” Les Minots- Domaine Patrick Piuze) The 2017 les Minots is an excellent example of Vaillons, as the vineyard escaped major frost damage in the spring and these seventy year-old vines have turned out an absolute classic as a result. The beautiful bouquet soars from the glass in a fine blend of pear, pink grapefruit, a touch of orange, pee, a complex base of chalky soil tones, white flowers and beeswax. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, focused and complex, with outstanding mid-palate depth, bright acids and great cut and grip on the very long and energetic finish. A superb bottle (Drink between 2020-2050)

John Gilman | 93 JG
The 2017 Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons Les Minots hails from one of the sunnier, warmer lieux-dits within the larger climat of Les Vaillons, and it typically produces a more generous, gourmand wine; it's also often where Piuze begins his harvest. This year's rendition is beautifully controlled, revealing aromas of green apple, crisp stone fruits and sweet white flowers. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and glossy, with a rounded but succulent core of fruit, concluding with a delineated finish.

Robert Parker Wine Advocate | 93 RP
A notably ripe nose flirts with exoticism yet it remains quite subtle on the fresh aromas of pear, apple and tidal pool wisps. The rich and moderately full-bodied flavors possess excellent minerality that also suffuses the citrusy, focused and notably dry finale. Lovely juice with fine mid-term development potential.

Burghound | 92 BH
The 2017 Chablis Vaillons Les Minots 1er Cru comes from a warm microclimate according to Patrick Piuze and it sports the highest alcohol degree and acidity. It has an intense, lightly honeyed bouquet with hints of quince and orange blossom. The palate is very well balanced with a fine line of acidity, tensile but powerful with a dash of lemongrass on the finish. Excellent.

Vinous Media | 92 VM
A rich style, this white delivers golden apple, quince and chamomile flavors. Displays good underlying cut and a tinge of mineral that lingers on the finish. Drink now through 2023. 292 cases made, 132 cases imported.

Producer P.Piuze: In order to produce great wine, the main ingredient you want is great terroir; something along those lines was stated by Patrick Piuze himself, and he is stuck to his principles since he rose to prominence. We would add another key ingredient to that list - talent. The man has quickly developed a level of mastery most winemakers would be downright jealous of, and his methods continue to impress even the harshest critics on the planet.
