Here too the lightly wooded nose displays a panoply of floral nuances that include rose petal, lilac and acacia blossom with additional notes of just grated zest, spice, and green apple. There is almost painful intensity to the slightly more concentrated and more mineral-driven flavors that conclude in a chiseled, youthfully austere and sneaky long finale that seems to go on and on. There is a little touch of patisserie on the nose, showing the additional breadth of fruit on Henri Boillot’s favourite vineyard. That’s what gives the gourmandise to the wine, says Henri. This seems to have all the aspects with an excellent mineral backbone holding the fruit together. Lime blossom and acacia he finds, from the adjacent trees which flower at the same time. There is enough wood to notice on the cool and airy aromas of white peach, Granny Smith apple and mineral reduction. The middle weight plus flavors are borderline painfully intense while seemingly built on a base of stone as the mouthfeel is like rolling tiny rocks around the palate on the massively long, balanced and youthfully austere finale. This overtly powerful and strikingly good bone-dry effort is markedly compact and a wine that I would recommend buying only if you have the patience to allow it at least a decade in a cool cellar. This could well be the Corton-Charlemagne of the vintage.Burghound | 97 BHFresh mid lemon. A fine concentration of fresh stony soil, with a little barrel toast. Much more linear of course, though with adequate flesh on the bones. Definite intensity. Drink from 2030-2036. The palate is rounded, weighty and creamy in texture, though again, like Boillot’s other whites, they feel a little generic and reflect the house style rather than the individual terroirs.Vinous Media | 90 VM

Mid lemon colour. A clear cut chiselled white fruit nose with fine intensity. An electric backbone and without the four-square element of some Poruzots. The tautly muscular larger-scaled flavors retain a similarly sleek mouthfeel while exuding a discreet stoniness on the powerful and impressively persistent finish. Poruzots always ages well and this well-made effort is going to need up to a decade of it to reach its peak.Burghound | 92 BH

A more elegant and equally cool nose freely offers up its essence of pear aromas cut with white peach, rose petal and a hint of anise. The refined, intense and bigger-bodied flavors possess a generous mouthfeel thanks to the abundance of sappy dry extract that also serves to buffer the firm acid spine shaping the superbly long finale. This is terrific and warmly recommended.Burghound | 94 BHMid yellow in colour. Richer in bouquet than Poruzots but not finer. A lemony tingle at the finish alongside robust oak. Some sensuality but less delicacy overall. Patisserie such as baba au rhum, or rum and raisin ice cream – a sign of Goutte d’Or for Henri. Drink from 2029-2034. A beautifully layered nose combines notes of orange peel, smoky Granny Smith, petrol, acacia and a pretty range of spice nuances. There is both excellent volume and richness to the bigger-bodied and more powerful flavors that deliver seriously fine length on the balanced finale. This could use better depth so at least a few years of keeping are in order though I underscore that the aging curve of this stunningly good effort is easily a decade plus.Burghound | 94 BHA generous mid yellow colour. The bouquet suggests a broad-based fruit, supported by its oak, with a minor reductive tension. Lots of agrumes follow through, very striking. All limestone and barely any soil here. Just enough wood to mention sets off the cool aromas of pear confit, acacia blossom and pretty spice wisps. There is excellent punch to the refined, if not especially dense, medium-bodied flavors that exude the hallmark minerality of a fine Perrières that adds a sense of lift to the impressively long and bitter lemon rind-inflected finish.Burghound | 92 BHMid lemon yellow. There is additional weight to the Perrières, making a very complete wine, fresh almonds for me and Henri Boillot finds a mandarin note as well. Strong mineral backbone. Very nicely balanced overall. Cool and beautifully elegant aromas include those of honeysuckle, citrus confit and a lovely array of floral nuances, all of which is trimmed in just enough wood to notice. There is a bit more volume to the caressing and sophisticated flavors even though they’re not particularly dense, all wrapped in a superbly long, balanced and complex finale that is even firmer. This is also very classy and a wine destined for a long life.Burghound | 95 BHVibrant mid lemon yellow. More perfumed, rather than electric on the nose, but the electricity shows up clearly in the mouth. Pure white fruit with a riper mandarin note hovering.
