The 2021 Dellamesola, from soils in Bramaterra, is a potent, young wine that needs time in the cellar. Dark cherry, plum, licorice, menthol and dried herbs are all dialed up. This is an especially potent style of Bramaterra, built on fruit intensity rather than nuance. The Dellamesola is mostly Nebbiolo with a bit of Croatina and Vespolina, aged 12 months in cask.Vinous Media | 93 VM

Lean and direct, focused with purity to the expression. Feels well worked, ample and precise, just super tight with black pepper and a menthol hit on the finish that is both fresh and spiced. Feels very herbal with lots of garrigue characteristics. I like the expression. A burst of red/purplish fruit, blood orange, spice and rose petals races across the palate, lifted by bright acids that confer energy. All the elements are very nicely balanced. Fine tannins frame the finish without slowing its momentum, and the 2021 tapers off long and staining with a steely minerality that lingers. It shows great length and a softer texture than you might expect given the first impact of the bouquet. You get lingering notes of pencil shaving and toasted oak, but the wine is ready to drink now. The 2022 Cocodrilo Corte is a blend driven by its 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, followed by 22% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbec, and 1% Syrah, the latter from a cool spot with stony soils. The grapes are fermented and pressed separately and aged 14 months in 15% new French oak barrels, with the rest in second- and third-year barrels. With a strong herbal character, it shines in notes of pencil shavings, tobacco, and dried herb. The redcurrant, black cherry, and plum give the wine a juicy underbelly supported by integrated tannin, while the Syrah adds an undeniable hint of white pepper.
