2019 domaine des combiers fleurie montgenas Beaujolais

Domaine des Combiers is a family estate of 9ha, mostly in Beaujolais with a little down in Mâcon. The Montgenas is produced from hand-picked grapes grown on vines more than 60 years old, on very pink granitic soil, facing to the east. The whole bunches undergo a semi-carbonic maceration for 8-12 days, at the end of which the cap is punched down to extract more of the colour and aromas. Finally, the wine is aged in oak for 10 -12 months. Rosemary George MW: Quite firm, sturdy nose and palate, with fairly dominant oak but good fruit. Andy Howard MW: A touch of reduction on the nose, but bright, fresh fruit to taste with plenty of crisp acidity. Very appealing characters. More black fruit, rather than red. Good density and nice length to finish. A Fleurie which has some extra elements compared to many. Dominique Vrigneau: Black fruit and plenty of it along with good wood support. Very smart. Drinking Window 2021 - 2026.Decanter | 95 DEC

2019 domaine des marrans fleurie les marrans Beaujolais

From a five-hectare parcel around the domaine, the 2019 Fleurie Les Marrans is superb, mingling notes of raspberries, cherries and plums with hints of rose petals and orange rind in an inviting bouquet. Medium to full-bodied, layered and fleshy, with fine depth at the core, succulent acids and a sensual, charming profile, it will offer a broad drinking window.Robert Parker Wine Advocate | 93 RPDeep ruby-red. The mineral-inflected nose displays dark berry, cherry and floral qualities and a building suggestion of exotic spices. Pliant, juicy and appealingly sweet, offering concentrated blackberry, cherry preserve and bitter chocolate flavors that tighten up slowly with air. Smoothly blends power and finesse and finishes seamless and long, with resonating cherry and mineral notes and youthful tannic grip.Vinous Media | 91 VM

2020 clos de la roilette fleurie Beaujolais

Wafting from the glass with aromas of raspberries, plums, rose petals and sweet spices, the 2020 Fleurie is medium to full-bodied, ample and layered, with a fleshy core of fruit, fine tannins and succulent acids, concluding with a perfumed finish. After the ethereal, classically proportioned 2019, the 2020 represents a return to the richer register that followers of this estate will remember from recent vintages, such as 2018, 2017 and 2015.Robert Parker Wine Advocate | 93 RPVivid ruby. Spice-accented red and dark berries on the perfumed nose, along with smoky mineral and floral accents. Sappy, penetrating raspberry and boysenberry flavors show fine definition and spicy cut. In a concentrated yet lively style, finishing long and gently sweet, with a repeating berry note and polished tannins adding gentle grip.Vinous Media | 93 VM(Fleurie- Clos de la Roilette (Coudert Père et Fils)) The 2020 Clos de la Roilette is a stunning vintage of this great cuvée. The wine is deep, pure and nascently complex on the nose, offering up scents of red and black cherries, sweet dark berries, fresh herb tones, a refined base of dark soil, gamebird, violets and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, focused and complex, with a superb core of black fruit, fine mineral drive and grip, ripe, seamless tannins, tangy acids and a long, perfectly balanced and very promising finish. As is so often the case with Clos de la Roilette, the 2020 is certainly a delicious drink in its first blush of youth, but it ages so beautifully that it will be crime to not tuck away at least a half dozen bottles in the cellar to start drinking once the wine reaches ten years of age!
