2023 Jean-Claude Bachelet et Fils Chassagne Montrachet Premier Cru Blanchot Dessus

The Bachelet brothers produced three barrels of the brilliant 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Blanchot-Dessus from this parcel, planted in 1927 right below Le Montrachet. Unwinding in the glass with notes of peach, white currants, toasted nuts, flowers and beeswax, framed by a deft touch of reduction, it’s full-bodied, satiny and pure, with a beautifully deep, seamless core of fruit, racy acids and a long, mineral finish.Robert Parker Wine Advocate | 95 RPMid lemon yellow. While there is an immediate suave richness to the fruit, the stones poke through. Beautifully balanced with grace and energy, a few lemons interspersed with a raft of orchard fruit, brilliantly persistent yet with nuances all the way through. Keeps coming back. Drink from 2029-2036. Tasted Oct 2024.Jasper Morris | 93-96 JMOnce again moderate wood sets off pretty aromas of white flower, passion fruit, spice and petrol. The gorgeously textured and caressing, if not particularly dense, larger-bodied flavors flash focused power on the compact, stony and hugely long finale. This is terrific and a wine that should amply repay up to a decade of keeping. I would add that this wine is almost always the best 1er in the Bachelet range and it appears as though it will be in 2023 as well.Burghound | 92-94 BHThe 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet Blanchot-Dessus 1er Cru plays with a subtle reduction on the nose. It has good intensity with more complexity than the other Chassagne Premier Crus. The palate is fresh and saline, combining a twist of sour lemon mixed with desiccated orange peel. It’s a little short on the finish compared to the 2022, yet it still exudes class.Vinous Media | 91-93 VM

2023 Jean-Claude Bachelet et Fils Saint Aubin Premier Cru Le Charmois

Offers a lovely lemon peel and mineral-inflected aroma, with hints of linden flowers and orange blossom. The texture is silky but not light; there is plenty of acidity to carry the weight of the extract. The grapes are from nearly 1ha of east-facing vines overlooking En Remilly; they are lightly crushed and gently pressed before fermentation in cask, 20% new. Give this two or three years in the cellar before opening and enjoy it over the next decade.Decanter Magazine | 94 DECThe 2023 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Charmois has turned out beautifully this year, offering up notes of citrus zest, lime leaf, nutmeg and hazelnuts. Medium- to full-bodied, satiny and precise, with good cut, density and persistence, it’s worth seeking out.Robert Parker Wine Advocate | 92 RPMid lemon yellow. A touch of sandalwood, but otherwise quite chiselled. A substantial volume of white fruit on the palate, more flesh than Champlots, fine acidity, a little grapefruit behind, and very persistent. Picked at the perfect moment. Iodine from the rock. Drink from 2027-2031. Tasted Oct 2024.Jasper Morris | 91-93 JMThe 2023 Saint-Aubin Le Charmois 1er Cru has a more neutral bouquet despite coaxing. It was a bit reticent at the time of my visit. The palate is crisp with a slightly shrill entry. This is quite sharp and "pointed" for a Saint-Aubin with a dab of ginger lingering on the finish. Fine.Vinous Media | 89-91 VM
