2019 El Enemigo Gran Enemigo Agrelo Single Vineyard

The 2019 Gran Enemigo Agrelo Single Vineyard shows the completeness of the vintage, a year with good yields and a cooler winter and summer. The result is a very balanced wine with full development of aromas and flavors, moderate ripeness and good freshness and balance. It has a fine texture, some chalky sensations and a dry finish, despite the fact that the soils have no limestone. The vines here are over 40 years of age. 7,200 bottles were filled July 2020.Robert Parker Wine Advocate | 97 RPA spicy cabernet franc full of red fruit, iodine, wet stones, white pepper and oyster shells. Full-bodied but nicely austere on the palate with chalky tannins and a linear finish. Tannins are super tight yet tense and dissolved. Mineral-driven finish. 50% whole bunch. Drink or hold.James Suckling | 97 JSElegant enough to drink now, but with structure allowing for age, this version offers dusty rose petal and fresh peppercorn notes, plus a juicy core of strawberry and raspberry, with a pleasant wave of fresh acidity chiming in and carrying the flavors. Reveals subtle chocolate and gravel notes around polished tannins, with a lingering juicy berry finish. Drink now through 2035. 2,000 cases made, 1,500 cases imported.Wine Spectator | 94 WSRipeness and elegance define this Cabernet Franc from Agrelo in Luján de Cuyo. The nose is inviting and offers aromas of violets and cranberries. Finely-grained tannins and good acidity provide support to balanced cigar box, blackberry, cranberry and mulberry flavors that merge seamlessly with hints of earthy bell pepper and herbal notes. 2022 El Enemigo Malbec, Argentina Red

This has blackberries, asphalt, violets and subtle wood on the nose. The palate is angular, sharp and precise, with lots character, a touch of pepper and a focused finish. Drink now.James Suckling | 95 JSThe 2022 Malbec includes 10% Cabernet Franc from Uco Valley. This aged for 15 months in a mix of foudres (50%), barrels (25%) and tanks (25%). It opens with red fruit, fresh plum, soft herbs like chamomile and pennyroyal and a violet note. This is dry, smooth and fruit-forward, with fine tannins, juicy flow and a subtle, chalky texture. The 2022 is a modern Argentine style, with precision and mouthwatering fruit.Vinous Media | 94 VMThere’s an inviting nose of pure plum fruit and fresh cherry in the 2022 Malbec, which shows lovely balance and a supple, smooth texture. It has a kick of power around its medium-bodied frame that never overwhelms but makes for a lengthy finish of memorable spice and herb. Enjoy through 2032.Jeb Dunnuck | 94 JDThe 2022 Malbec hails from Adrianna Vineyard, contains 10% Cabernet Franc and was fermented entirely whole clusters before maturing for 15 months in foudre, tank and barrel. The bouquet starts with a poised interplay between herbal and floral elements, with a core of black fruits, followed by a rich, fluid and seamless palate. It concludes with an intensely savory, earth-tinged finish framed with grippy, refined tannins.Robert Parker Wine Advocate | 92 RP
