Loveblock’s 2021 Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough is an intriguing and textural wine. Forget your stereotypical Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc because this is not it. Uh-uh. Instead, it offers herbal layers of flavor and green yet ripe aromas of gooseberry and nettle, as well as wild floral characters that I often associate with wild fermentation. What’s more, there’s a creamy element that suggests a touch of malolactic. There’s a lot of wine to explore here with many corners, twists and turns that take you in new direction: David Bowie in your ballet tights in Labyrinth eat your heart out.
