2022 Elivio Cogno Montegrilli

Aromas of wild raspberries cascade out of the glass with fresh rose, wild herbs and subtle earth notes. The lively palate pops with sour red cherries that are balanced by hints of anise and underbrush. Elegant tannins frame the wine perfectly. Wine Enthusiast | 93 WELanghe Nebbiolo is a terrific category of wine that is taking on enormous steam. You get the lovely character of the elegant grape but delivered here with more immediacy and ease of drinking. The Elvio Cogno 2022 Langhe Nebbiolo Montegrilli is the type of bottle you hope to find at your neighborhood trattoria or pizzeria. The wine shows a brilliant ruby hue with fragrant rose, violet and sweet cherry. Production is 15,000 bottles.Robert Parker Wine Advocate | 92 RPSourced from Nebbiolo grown just outside the Barolo zone on sandy soils, this Langhe Nebbiolo is primed and ready to be enjoyed now. Vinified in stainless steel with a portion of whole-bunch fruit and 30% undergoing carbonic maceration, it flaunts a beautiful perfume of wild strawberry and floral notes. In the mouth it has good intensity of juicy red fruits with a touch of herbs. Textural, sapid and vertical.Decanter | 92 DECNo written review provided. | 92 W&SThe 2022 Langhe Nebbiolo Montegrilli is an homage to Valter’s grandfather and was fermented and aged only in stainless steel. The 2022 Langhe Nebbiolo Montegrilli is a pale ruby, with notes of ripe wild strawberry, cinnamon, and white pepper. It is lifted, fresh, and medium-bodied, with fresh acidity and a good clean finish. Another fresh example to serve with salumi and as an aperitif, with a light chill, it is easy to drink and approachable. Drink over the next 5-6 years.Jeb Dunnuck | 91 JDDried herbs, dark chocolate and bark with red and dark berries on offer here. Medium-bodied, juicy and crunchy with a flavorful, citrusy finish. 2022 Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco

In 2022, the estate will only be producing a small quantity of the single-vineyard Riservas, with the majority of fruit going into the 2022 Barbaresco. It pours a jeweled ruby red color and reveals a seductive yet very pure nose of cherry cordial, crushed roses, sweet herbs, and peppery spice. Medium-bodied, it has supple ripeness in the fruit yet wonderful clarity in its tannins and acidity, giving the wine excellent definition and balance. Roughly 133,333 bottles were produced. Drink 2026-2050.Jeb Dunnuck | 95 JDViolet, rose and dried herb scents over black cherry, raspberry and a touch of tar. Medium-bodied yet firm on the palate, its succulent red fruits are framed by fine tannins and fresh acidity. The clean and persistent finish shows floral, red-fruit and mineral nuances.Decanter Magazine | 94 DECBright and overtly fruity, this is full of intoxicating violets, cinnamon, blood oranges and black cherries, expressing mint and balsamic depth. Full-bodied with a soft, smooth attack, dusty yet velvety tannins and brilliant acidity. The chocolaty finish shows licorice and a mouth-coating texture. Delicious and balanced. Drink or hold.James Suckling | 94 JSThe straight 2022 Barbaresco from Produttori del Barbaresco is fragrant and refined, with aromas of blue flower, red berry, citrus and a balsamic whiff of eucalyptus. Surprisingly fresh and juicy for the hot, extremely dry vintage, it boasts flavors of tart red cherry, orange zest and star anise alongside taut, refined tannins that leave some grip on the finish. Drink through 2030. Abv: 14.5% Kerin O’Keefe | 94 KOThe 2022 Barbaresco is a pretty rich, heady wine. Dark cherry/plum fruit, cloves, licorice and mocha build as the 2022 shows off its considerable depth. This is one of the few 2022s that is quite resonant texturally. The aromatics could be more lifted and the tannins could use a bit more polish, but those qualities were next to impossible to come by in 2022. The inclusion of some juice from Riserva lots is a great help. All things considered, this is a stellar showing.Vinous Media | 93 VMPacked with cherry and raspberry flavors, this red is round and succulent, with a fleshy profile and a solid base of tannins. Mineral and menthol accents add depth, and the finish is fresh and long. Best from 2028 through 2042. 25,000 cases made, 600 cases imported.Wine Spectator | 93 WS

2022 Trediberri Barolo La Morra

Including all of the estate’s Rocche dell’Annunziata fruit in this vintage, the 2022 Barolo Del Comune Di La Morra was tasted from two bottles, one opened the day prior and one freshly opened. Both showed beautifully, offering notes of framboise, pressed flowers, and juicy mandarin orange. Medium-bodied, it resonates on the palate with refreshing acidity, bright fruit, and elegant fresh earth, finishing long and harmonious. A stunning wine with tremendous balance, it should offer a wide window of enjoyment over the coming 15 or more years. 36,000 bottles were produced. Drink 2026-2042.Jeb Dunnuck | 96 JDA restrained style, showing subtle red currants, slightly confected strawberries and sweet violets, quite contemporary and not too spicy. Medium-bodied with ripe, velvety tannins, crisp acidity and a crunchy palate. Elegant and easy to drink yet a bit lacking in depth. Drink now.James Suckling | 94 JSAromas of iris, violet, fine tobacco blend and sun-warmed hay form the nose on the Trediberri 2022 Barolo del Comune di La Morra along with a whiff of leather. On the savory, already accessible and almost ethereal palate, velvety tannins accompany fleshy Morello cherry, nutmeg, star anise and rhubarb. Tangy acidity keeps it lifted. This is the only Barolo the estate made and is a fine effort for the extremely dry, challenging vintage. Drink 2027–2034Abv: 13.5% Kerin O’Keefe | 94 KOThe Oberto family bottled one single Barolo in 2022. It largely features their vineyards in the cool, late-ripening Berri sub-district. Holdings in Rocche dell’Annunziata represent approximately 18% of the blend. A quiet charmer, this boasts precision and purity as its strengths. Scents of cranberry, redcurrant, pepper and brushwood take some coaxing. The palate is tightly knit and slender but well-endowed with flavours of juicy red berries and cardamom. Lively acidity meets al dente tannins. Do not take this for a pushover.Decanter Magazine | 93 DEC
