France Wines

Words fail us when trying to adequately portray France’s place in the world of wine. It’s downright impossible to imagine what wine would feel and taste like had it not been for France’s many, many viticultural pioneers. Fine wine is the blood of France’s vigorously beating heart, and it finds itself in many aspects of French culture. With a viticultural history that dates all the way back to the 6th century BC, France now enjoys its position as the most famous and reputable wine region on the planet. If you have a burning passion for masterfully crafted, mouth-watering, mind-expanding wines, then regular visits to France are probably already in your schedule, and for a good reason.

1995 haut marbuzet Bordeaux Red

Beautiful aromas of fresh berries, Spanish cedar and licorice. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins that go into high gear in the finish. Long and exciting. Better and better. One of HM’s best.--’95/’96 Bordeaux retrospective. Best after 2009.Wine Spectator | 93 WSVery good deep red. Sappy red berries, game and nutty oak on the nose; less expressive than the ’96 today. Silky and deep, with good acidity providing solid backbone. Doesn’t show quite the charm of the ’96 today, but this very firm wine really builds in the mouth. Finishes strong and long, with lush, toothcoating tannins. Showing even better than a bottle I tasted last spring just after the miseVinous Media | 90 VM
