Lafite Rothschild Wines

“Leader among Fine Wines”
Sokolin Fine Wine Merchants offer their customers a rare opportunity to try one of the world's finest wines – the famous Chateau Lafite Rothshild. Château Lafite Rothschild is a Premier Cru wine and, according to the rankings gained at the Universal Paris Expo in the 19th century, “Leader among fine wines.” While the exports of wine to the UK date to the early 17th century, the first known reference to Lafite vin de pays go as far back as the 14th century. The vineyard is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon (71%) with the balance comprising Merlot (25%), Cabernet Franc (3%) and Petit Verdot (1%). Grapes are hand-harvested, and always vinified parcel by parcel, while fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats, after which the wine is run off into barrels. When it comes to taste, Château Lafite Rothschild produces high-quality red wines with a solid backbone of tannins. The unique taste and structure of these vin de pays makes them the most sought after wines in the entire world. As the tannins age, they become very silky and contribute to the production of velvety wines that open up on the palate. Most famous flavors include blackberries, currants, tobacco, cigars, and cedar. Experts often describe the wines of Lafite as elegant and full of finesse, especially when compared with the structure and masculine power of Latour, or more exotic and intense flavors of Mouton. Rated a perfect 100 points from Wine Spectator and Robert Parker, Château Lafite Rothschild, at its best, represents a hedonistic and unique experience for the consumer.
