Bordeaux Margaux Wines

The appellation of Margaux also includes the villages Labarde, Cantenac, Arsac and Soussans. The Gironde flows quietly, reflecting the beautiful cloudscape above as it brings life to the surrounding soil. The rough gravel adds toughness and strength to the vines, while providing precious drainage to keep the grapes healthy. Margaux boasts an impressive 21 cru classé châteaux, more than any other commune in all of Bordeaux – and it’s not for lack of competition, we can tell you that.

The 1413 hectares of vineyards primarily house Cabernet Sauvignon, but it wouldn’t be a Bordeaux commune without the presence of varietals such as Malbec, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. These wines perfume your mouth with a strong aroma of black currant, and the texture is rich and well-structured. They are grandiose, elegant, opulent and bold, wines that can convince you of the existence of higher powers through raw quality.

Naturally, these wines are coveted by collectors and enthusiasts around the globe. We aim to unite our clients with the finest Margaux wines, so that they would understand our deep fascination with the commune and its history of greatness. Whether you wish to hoard and admire these bottles in the privacy of your cellar, or uncork them in front of famished guests, Margaux wines boldly claim their place amongst Bordeaux’s most essential.

2000 du tertre Bordeaux Red

Tasted blind at Bordeaux Index’s 2000 tasting in London. An open-knit, more leathery nose than its peers, touches of mulberry, dried orange peel, graphite and even a tang of marmalade. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, masculine and dense, real backbone again here, a wine in for the long-haul. Blackberry, allspice, hoi sin and a touch of white pepper towards the long but bashful finish. This needs another 5-6 years but it is finally realizing the promise it showed in barrel Drink 2015-2030. Robert Parker Wine Advocate | 92 RP-NM(31.5 g/l dry extract; 13.4% alcohol): Deep ruby to the rim; much darker than both the 2001 and the 2003. Notes of milk chocolate, underbrush and cedar complicate the ripe red cherry and dark plum aromas. Enters sweet, dense and tactile, displaying ripe dark fruit, tobacco, porcini and mineral flavors of noteworthy precision and cut thanks to harmonious acidity. Finishes sweet, spicy, smooth and very long; once again, du Tertre comes across as remarkably fresh and focused in a hot vintage.Vinous Media | 92 VMLoads of tobacco and prune character. Rich and decadent. Full body with velvety tannins and a juicy, delicious finish. Just opening now. Improving with age.James Suckling | 91 JS

2005 du tertre Bordeaux Red

Wonderful balance of fruit with currant and chocolate character. Full body with integrated tannins and a clean finish. Polished and refined. Drink or hold.James Suckling | 92 JSThis attractive deep ruby/plum/purple wine is supple, with notes of loamy soil, earth, underbrush and black and red currants. Very fragrant and medium-bodied, with relatively sweet tannin, this wine should continue to drink well for another 10-15+ years.Robert Parker | 90 RPThe 2005 du Tertre is a bold, savory wine, as it so often is. Game, scorched earth, licorice, tobacco and dried herbs give this dark, virile Margaux much of its distinctive personality. The 2005 has aged well. I would prefer to drink it over the next handful of years, before the fruit fully fades, even though there is enough density to allow for aging beyond that. Structurally, du Tertre is a bit lighter than most Margaux in 2005.Vinous Media | 90 VM

2010 du tertre Bordeaux Red

Deep garnet in color, the 2010 du Tertre sashays out of the glass with pretty notions of black tea, fragrant soil, wilted roses and kirsch over a cassis and blackberry pie core. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has bright, vibrant, crunchy fruit with a firm, grainy texture and bags of freshness, finishing with great length and energy.Robert Parker Wine Advocate | 93 RPThe 2010 du Tertre soars out of the glass with blackberry, sous-bois and light mint aromas. Good definition here and nicely focused. The palate is medium-bodied with supple but quite firm tannins, a welcome sprinkling of cracked black pepper and an off-dry finish that feels long and persistent. Superb. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 10-Year On Bordeaux horizontal.Vinous Media | 93 VMA plush and flattering style, with beguiling toast wound around a smoldering core of warm plum confiture, dark cherry and currant fruit, and buried hints of charcoal and espresso. Displays a polished finish overall. A hint of warm paving stone lurks in the background. Best from 2014 through 2026. 9,167 cases made. — JMWine Spectator | 92 WSLots of blackberries and blueberries on the nose. Full body, with chewy tannins that are polished and ripe. Tar and mushroom undertones on the finish. Excellent Tertre. Try in 2018.James Suckling | 92 JSRipe, dense and smooth from wood aging, this is a modern view of Margaux. At the same time, it shows a beautiful black-currant flavor from the Cabernet Sauvignon, and the Petit Verdot adds great color.Wine Enthusiast | 92 WE
