1995 certan de may Bordeaux Red

Juicy, burly red. Fascinating aromas of ripe fruit, game and earth. Full-bodied, very velvety, with a long, rich aftertaste. Not giving away what it really has, but what classic potential. Best from 2003 through 2013.Wine Spectator | 96 WSAn impressive Certan de May, the 1995 exhibits a dense ruby/purple color, and a moderately intense nose of black olives, cedar, raspberries, and cherry fruit intermixed with toasty new oak. In the mouth, the new oak is noticeable, as is an elevated level of tannin. Notwithstanding the aggressive vanillin flavors and powerful tannin, this wine has outstanding depth, and a layered, concentrated style with considerable muscle and power. It is a big, backward, formidably endowed Certan de May that may turn out to be the finest wine made at this estate since the 1988, but patience is most definitely required. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2020.Robert Parker | 90 RPDarker red, but not especially saturated. Deeper, riper aromas of plum and framboise, with smoky oak and mint notes adding complexity; showed a note of surmaturite that reminded me of a Bonneau Chateauneuf du Pape. Fairly strong on the attack, then the richest and sweetest of these three vintages by a wide margin. Concentrated and firmly structured. Finishes with dusty, tactile tannins and assertive flavors of kirsch, coffee and olive.Vinous Media | 90 VM

2004 l'evangile Bordeaux Red

No written reviews provided | 96 W&SA stunning example of the vintage, the 2004 l’Evangile is not far off the pace of their brilliant 2005. A blend of 89% Merlot and 11% Cabernet Franc (3,000+ cases produced), it exhibits a deep ruby/plum color, superb ripeness, and sweet blackberry, truffle, acacia flower, licorice, and toasty oak aromas. This knock-out effort is surprisingly rich, opulent, and fruity with good glycerin, medium to full body, and a stunning finish. It should drink beautifully young yet age for 15 or more years.Robert Parker | 93 RPSaturated ruby-red. Wild aromas of plum, cured meat, milk chocolate, smoke, mace and cinnamon stick. Sweet and opulent for the vintage, with a distinctly velvety texture to the flavors of plum, mulberry, smoked meat and exotic spices. Finishes broad and sweet, with sexy suggestions of woodsmoke, chocolate and wild herbs. I've had a soft spot for this wine from the outset.Vinous Media | 91 VMThe milk chocolate, berry and cedar character on the nose is subtle and refined. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a refined finish. All in finesse and elegance. Best after 2011. 3,330 cases made.Wine Spectator | 91 WS

2011 hosanna Bordeaux Red

(Château Hosanna) Hosanna, which is the former Certan-Giraud estate, is always one of the more black fruity examples of Pomerol, and the superb 2011 is no exception. The lovely and quite reserved nose offers up scents of dark berries, black raspberries, espresso, woodsmoke, dark soil tones and cedar. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bdoied and impressively light on its feet in 2011, with a fine core of fruit, firm, well-integrated tannins and excellent focus and grip on the long, chewy and very well-balanced finish. This will be another excellent Pomerol in a dozen years. (Drink between 2025-2075).John Gilman | 93 JGNow one of my favorite Pomerols (a 2005 tasted in Beijing, China recently was out of this world), the 2011 Hosanna does not have the power of that vintage, or 2009 and 2010, but it exhibits complex forest floor, floral, black raspberry and black cherry notes. With a savory, broad opulence as well as a medium to full-bodied appeal, this silky smooth, seductive, complex wine can be drunk now or cellared for a decade or more.Robert Parker | 93 RPAn impressive and powerful wine, with its tannins packed into rich flavors of bitter chocolate and black fruit.Wine Enthusiast | 93 WEA red with plum and milk-chocolate character, plus hints of hazelnut. Medium to full body with firm tannins and a fruity finish. Subtle and firm. Stylish cocoa, berry and mineral undertones. Better in 2016.James Suckling | 92 JSSports a briary edge, with an ample core of red currant and raspberry fruit, studded with anise, apple wood and incense notes. Still backward today, with the grip winning out, but all the pieces are in place. This should be a more classic, restrained version when it settles in fully. Best from 2017 through 2027. 1,365 cases made.Wine Spectator | 92 WSBright, deep ruby-red. Highly perfumed aromas of sour red cherry, redcurrant, licorice, iron and minerals. Very suave on entry, then tactile and quite firm in the middle, with pungent flavors of sour red berries and spices. Tightly coiled, cool and reserved in the typical youthful Hosanna way, showing a restrained sweetness and obvious class. The very long finish is quite tannic but not hard, featuring excellent grip and subtle violet and mineral nuances. Forget about this in the cellar for another ten years.Vinous Media | 91 VM
