2005 meyney Bordeaux Red

This starts off a little bretty with barnyard undertones, but it blows off to flowers and rich fruit. Round and juicy, with yummy flavors. A long finish on this. Very spicy and earthy. St. Estephe character. Enjoy or age.James Suckling | 90 JSAromas of currant and fresh flowers follow through to a medium-to-full body, with chewy tannins and a slightly woody finish, but the fruit comes through. Turns long and pretty. Best after 2010.Wine Spectator | 90 WS

2009 meyney Bordeaux Red

Green olives, spices and currants on the nose. Full body, with velvety tannins and a juicy finish. Lovely layers of ripe tannins and ripe fruit. Best after 2018.James Suckling | 93 JSI clearly underrated this wine from barrel. The finest wine made at this estate since 1982, this opaque black wine is a sleeper of the vintage, with oodles of blackberry fruit interwoven with hints of charcoal, forest floor, licorice and damp earth. Deep, rich, chewy, full-bodied and opulent, this is a fabulous Meyney that, because of its low acidity and very ripe tannin, can be drunk in 3-4 years or cellared for two decades. Bravo!Robert Parker | 92 RPThe 2009 Meyney marks the point where I believe the wines become more interesting. The nose features ample red berry fruit, red plum, raspberry preserve and sloes mixed with Christmas cake and earthy aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, and quite Haut-Marbuzet in style, leading to a lush but very nicely structured, lightly spiced finish that reveals cracked black pepper on the aftertaste. This is definitely worth seeking out. Tasted at a vertical at Château Meyney.Vinous Media | 92 VM

2011 meyney Bordeaux Red

This is a perfumed, new wood-flavored wine. It has soft tannins and attractive acidity along with a drier core. Showing a rich potential, it will round out over the next four to five years. Drink from 2018.Wine Enthusiast | 91 WEA sleeper of the vintage, the 2011 Meyney (which escaped the hailstorm that devastated the northern Pauillac border and St.-Estephe boundary line on September 1) possesses an opaque ruby/purple color as well as a big, sweet bouquet of black olives, black currants, charcoal and earth. Dense and medium to full-bodied, this classic St.-Estephe offers good acidity and ripe tannin. It should drink well for 12-15 years.Old timers undoubtedly remember Meyney’s brilliant track record in the decades of the 1970s and 1980s, and it appears things are back on track at this St.-Estephe estate.Robert Parker | 88-90 RPThe 2011 Meyney is a little gem of a wine. Still vibrant/ruby colored with a youthful bouquet of blackcurrants, tobacco leaf, cedar, and earth, it’s medium to full-bodied, nicely textured, and has beautifully ripe tannin. This classic, satisfying Saint-Estèphe can be enjoyed anytime over the coming decade or more.Jeb Dunnuck | 90 JD

2015 meyney Bordeaux Red

The 2015 Meyney is an outstanding Saint Estèphe and here confirms its shock victory in the blind Southwold tasting. Intense dark cherries, blackberry and sage on the nose reveal just a hint of iron filings, all very cohesive and demonstrating well-integrated oak. The medium-bodied palate offers fine-grained tannins, good grip and plush red fruit laced with white pepper and sage, leading to a more structured finish than the impressive 2014. Superb. Tasted at a vertical at Château Meyney.Vinous Media | 94 VMBarrel Sample. This wine is poised between great fruits and firm tannins. It has both in abundance, bursting with black currant flavors and lively acidity.Wine Enthusiast | 93 WEImpressive dark-cherry and dark-plum aromas with nicely delivered spices and chocolate to boot. The palate has a very vibrant, very juicy and fresh pure palate with dark cherry flavors that hold bright. Very approachable St.-Estephe. Try from 2020.James Suckling | 92 JSLeathery cassis fruit and broad – even massive – ripeness in the Meyney style. Will be very good with a bit of age. Drinking Window 2020 - 2030.Decanter | 90 DEC
