n/v p moncuit brut rose Champagne (Rose)

Disgorged in February 2017 with six grams per liter dosage, Moncuit’s NV Brut Rosé Grand Cru is a blend of Mesnil-sur-Oger Chardonnay and Ambonnay Pinot Noir that’s produced for Claude Alexander’s Alexander Vineyards label. Wafting from the glass with aromas of dried orange rind, brioche, fresh hazelnuts and white cherries, it’s medium to full-bodied, bright and incisive, with a pretty core of fruit, racy acids and a chalky, delicately phenolic finish. This is a classy, elegant Rosé that reflects Moncuit’s expertise with Chardonnay, and it’s well worth seeking out.Robert Parker Wine Advocate | 91 RPThe NV (2017) Brut Rosé is a nervy, taut wine, notwithstanding the presence of 25% Pinot Noir from Bouzy in the blend. Rose petal, dried herbs, mint and bright red berry fruit are nicely delineated. The 2017 is just a touch vegetal, but that note is one strand in a rich fabric. I would open the 2017 in advance to allow for some of the edgier contours to soften, and drink bottles sooner rather than later, just in case that vegetal element starts to emerge more forcefully.Antonio Galloni | 90 AGThe new release of Pierre Moncuit Brut Rosé is composed of seventy-five percent chardonnay from Mesnil and twenty-five percent pinot noir from Ambonnay. It was disgorged in July of 2019 and finished with a dosage of eight grams per liter. It is a beautiful, pale salmon color and offers up a bright bouquet of strawberries, a touch of rhubarb, gentle smokiness, chalky soil tones and a dollop of clove in the upper register. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied, focused and complex, with a lovely core, refined mousse, fine balance and a long, succulent and complex finish. This is stylish and drinking very well right now. (Drink between 2020-2030)John Gilman | 90 JG
