The 2019 Chardonnay Ritchie Vineyard is savory with fresh pine, lemon, and crushed stone. Its great concentration and full-bodied richness give way to a stony finish with notes of orange oil, pineapple, and spice. Drink it over the next 15 or more years.Jeb Dunnuck | 97 JDThe 2019 Chardonnay Ritchie Vineyard offers up an enticing mélange of white flowers, orchard fruit, mint and sage, along with light tropical inflections that add an exotic flair. Layered and exquisite in its beauty, the 2019 is the highlight in this flight of Chardonnays from Arista.Antonio Galloni | 93 AGNot shy on either richness or complexity, with showy spiced baked apple, candied ginger peel and dried orange zest flavors that show touches of dried pineapple and marmalade, all with vibrant acidity that keeps the flavors bright and focused. Drink now through 2030. 213 cases made.Wine Spectator | 93 WS
The 2020 Chardonnay Ritchie Vineyard comes from vines planted in the 1970s. It was matured for 12 months in 35% new French oak and finished with six months in stainless steel. This shows the impressive concentration and generosity that could have defined the style of the 2020 vintage before the wildfires hit. Youthful tones of crème brûlée and toast give way to citrus blossoms, lemongrass and apricot on the nose. The medium-bodied palate pairs generous, honeyed fruit and a luxurious, mouth-coating texture with laser-like acidity that compels you to take another sip, and although the Arista wines generally age well, there’s no reason to wait for this—drink it over the next 3-5+ years. 650 cases produced.Robert Parker Wine Advocate | 97 RPLeans into tropical notes of pineapple and mango, with fresh citrus accents, an elegant, soft body and fresh acidity that gains momentum on the long, expressive finish, where a touch of toasted green tea and honeyed, toasted sesame lingers. Drink now. 650 cases made.Wine Spectator | 94 WS
The 2020 Chardonnay UV - El Diablo Vineyard is extraordinarily impressive, particularly given the multitude of challenges this vintage. It was matured for 12 months in 33% new French oak and finished with six months in stainless steel. The nose is complex and pure with continually evolving scents of white peach, panna cotta, lime peel, coriander seed and floral perfume. The palate is luxurious and satiny with a harmony of expansive, perfumed fruit and focused acidity, and its very long, energetic finish is addicting. No reason to lay this down—enjoy it over the next 3-5+ years. 350 cases were made.Robert Parker Wine Advocate | 98 RPElegant and composed, with perfectly ripe Bartlett pear, yellow apple and citrus zest at the core, plus hints of buttery pie crust and touches of vanilla cream and dried apple. Delicate, balanced and extremely nuanced, with a fresh thread of acidity gaining momentum on the finish. Drink now through 2031. 350 cases made.Wine Spectator | 94 WSThe 2020 Chardonnay U.V. El Diablo Vineyard shows real inner strength, naturally in the lighter style of the year. Dried herbs, stone, orchard fruit and chamomile bring out the more savory, mineral side of Sonoma Coast Chardonnay. This is very fine for the year.Vinous Media | 90 VM
