This past weekend, we invited a small group of friends over for dinner and served up a delicious dish of linguine with fresh New Zealand Cockles and clam juice accompanied by one of the most recent additions to our inventory, the 2007 Ramey Chardonnay Sonoma Coast.  Producing some exceptional medium bodied and flavorful Chardonnays, Ramey has made quite a name for itself in the industry.

A light yellowish-straw like color, the wine was buttery, not too over oaked and chock-full of citrus fruit, but amazingly, wasn't too sweet.  Its crisp refreshing flavor with just the right amount of acidity was quite welcoming, especially since the red pepper in our linguine dish was just a tad spicier than we would have liked.  This wine really cut the spice factor and is a perfect illustration of how wine has an effect on our food's taste.  We continually witness this transformation every time we pop a bottle of wine over a meal.

And, did we mention that the price is right on this wine?  This Ramey Chardonnay Sonoma Coast is priced just under $30/btl, while some of Ramey's single vineyard chardonnays sell upward of $60/btl, at twice the price.  This wine joins the list of Sokolin's great value wines that we know you'll love.   If you can't drink it right away, not to worry, it should continue to drink well over the next five years.

Our recommendation: Spring is just a few days away, making NOW a great time to expand your white wine collection for the upcoming season.  Pick up some bottles of chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, and a few roses and imagine yourself relaxing as you lounge in your outdoor furniture in your back yard, glass in hand.  The bright sunny days are just around the corner...welcome its long-awaited arrival with a nice bottle of chilled white wine and celebrate!  Any of the Ramey Chardonnays make excellent choices.
