Wine: 2007 Roger Sabon Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Prestige

2007 was a stellar vintage in the Rhone region. Every time we taste a bottle, we are just blown away. Even the industry experts, such as Robert Parker, has awarded a 98 point vintage score to the Southern Rhone for 2007.
Regarding this specific producer, Parker said, "2007 may be the strongest vintage across the board that I have ever tasted at Roger Sabon." When the world's most prominent wine critic gives such applause, our ears perk up, and we can't resist trying it out for ourselves.
The 2007 Roger Sabon CDP Cuvee Prestige is deep purple in color, full of cherries, cream and spice. It is an incredible, stylish, yet casual wine that can be served with even the most basic meals. With all the nice sunshine and 70 degree weather in the Hamptons, we decided to ditch a lavish hedonistic dinner and get in the vibe of summer with some grilled, rare Black Angus burgers smothered with cheddar jack cheese, and for those brave enough, some spicy B-B-Q sauce. Throw in some sliced sautéed potatoes and steamed green beans, and it was a flavor explosion! The wine's long finish was an absolute pleasure to the palate, and an empty bottle left us wanting more. This wine is sure to last at least another 15-20 years, and maybe even longer.
Our recommendation: If you are in the market to try one of Parker's favorite vintages & regions, the 2007 Roger Sabon CDP Cuvee Prestige is a good place to start...or to pick up where you left off. While many other 2007s Rhones are selling upward of $100+/btl, you can pick up the 2007 Roger Sabon CDP Cuvee Prestige, rated 95 points, for only $54.95/btl. It's really a great value wine that we think you'll enjoy.
