“My eyes were recently opened to drinking great, young and inexpensive Bordeaux. 2015 is an A rated vintage that drinks very young. I've been tasting these and love them!” - Dave Sokolin
2015 Clos de Sarpe is a perfect example of the terrific value that still exists in Bordeaux. This 97+ pointer is priced at $74.99 and is in a prime drinking window.
Clos de Sarpe is a small, walled vineyard sitting high on the plateau of Saint Emilion, on the Right Bank of the Gironde River in Bordeaux. At a mere 3.7 hectares (just over 9 acres) this is a very small estate, when compared to other St. Emilion powerhouses such as Cheval-Blanc (over 40 hectares) and Angelus (over 25 hectares). They have been farming organically since 1920, and recently converted to Biodynamics, making for extremely healthy soils and vineyard.
2015 Clos de Sarpe “…might be one of the greatest wines to ever emerge from this tiny vineyard just outside of Saint Emilion.” - Jeb Dunnuck
This wine is perfect for fall weather and has the stuffing to age for another decade+ gracefully.
