The summer is unofficially now over after the Labor Day holiday. I'm ready to start thinking about the fall holidays, cooler weather and yes, red wine!
Last week I made a delicious batch of spaghetti and meatballs for my family. Classic mixture of veal, pork and beef, fresh herbs and seasonings, etc. YUM! I also decided to check out the 2007 Fanti Brunello di Montalcino, which I thought would pair nicely with this dish. Well, needless to say, not only did this make a perfect pairing, but there were no leftovers of anything when we were ready to leave the table. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meal, and especially this beautiful wine from the amazing 2007 Tuscan vintage!
Brunello di Montalcino produced two excellent back-to-back vintages in 2006 and 2007, and they are both vintages you should experience. The Wine Advocate had this to about the 2007s: "...My impression is that most of the wines will not shut down in bottle and that 2007 will be a great vintage to drink pretty much throughout its life..." Leading wine critic, James Suckling agreed, "...the 2007s are more voluptuous and obvious with a generous and opulent style. They are more immediate and arousing to the drinker..."
In addition to providing great taste, Brunellos also give wine buyers a lot of value from a price to points ratio. Even James Suckling said he thinks that "...Brunello is one of the best values in fine wine available in the market at the moment. It's hard to find such high quality reds at such price points..."
This high-scoring 2007 Fanti Brunello di Montalcino received 95 points from James Suckling. It was a deep garnet in color with intense fruit and purity on the nose. Dark raspberry, currants and violets with incredible finesse. Great acidity and balance. A 60 second finish that just sang with the food. This wine has a long life ahead of it, but it's absolutely delicious now as well!
While I loved the meatball dish with this Tuscan beauty, the next time around I'm going to grill a ribeye with rosemary, thyme, salt & pepper. Now that's a weekend that I'm looking forward to!
This wine is in stock and ready to ship to you today. Priced at only $42.99 per bottle, this is a must-try Brunello from the amazing 2007 vintage!
