The 2009 Paul Jaboulet Aine Cornas Domaine de St. Pierre (95 points, Robert Parker) is going to please you. It's a bit young now, but I went ahead and tasted this now so you'll know when to drink it later. There are just 500 cases produced so don't wait until later to try to buy it...only wait to drink it.

The color is very deep red, and I could detect smoke and leather scent. Everyone will consider this to be a big and bold bottle of wine, and it certainly is. There is dark fruit and anise on the palate with big tannins and pepper for the long finish.

You can drink this as early as 2014, but it's going to be most enjoyed if you can allow it about 10 years of bottle age. It should age very well for 25-30 years.

This 100% Syrah wine comes from a south facing plateau near the little chapel of St. Pierre in the Cornas appellation of northern Rhone. Cornas (Celtic for 'burnt earth') is one the smallest appellations in all of the Rhone Valley. Only red wine can be produced here under local law.

Only in her early 30s, former equestrian champion and pianist Caroline Frey is the proprietor and winemaker behind the 2009 Paul Jaboulet Aine Cornas Domaine de St. Pierre. Caroline comes from a family of winemakers and is credited with turning around the quality of Jaboulet to match its historic legacy.

You can grab this for $64.99 today and come back to it in a few years and pair it with beef stew or steak, lamb, or venison for guaranteed pleasure.
