We are constantly combing the market for great wines at a great price for our customers. This week we've scored yet another amazing deal! Just in time for the holidays and the heartier fare we all look forward to this time of year, we've found an incredible red Burgundy - always a perfect companion to turkey, ham and Fall veggies.
It's the 2007 Nicolas Potel Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Petits Monts. This wine has red fruits exploding from the nose, along with cherry cola, wet rocks, and a stony minerality on the palate. Full of tart cherries and good acidity, this red has an outstanding length on the finish that lasts for almost a full minute. Still a baby, this wine has many great years ahead of it - no question.
Now comes the best part - the price. This wine has a release price of $93./bottle and an average market price of $80./bottle. We just cleaned out our distributor of this gem and struck an incredible deal for doing so. Ready for this...
SOKOLIN PRICE = $46.95/btl!
If you need any other reasons to buy this wine, here they are:
The vineyards of Les Petits Monts share a border with Richebourg, one of the most expensive and sought-after Grand Cru Red Burgundy plots around.
Stephen Tanzer gives this wine 91 pts: "Medium red. Enticing bouquet of black raspberry, minerals, smoke, fresh herbs and incense. The palate offers lovely intensity and sweetness without weight, with a sappy edge of acidity framing and lifting the black fruit and spice flavors. This really shows the dark fruit side of the vintage. Finishes with lush tannins and excellent persistence."
Allen Meadows of Burghound gives this wine 90-92 pts: "As it reasonably should be, this is much cooler and more restrained than the Chaumes with a stylish, elegant, pure and quietly classy nose of spicy blue and violet aromas that convey a real stoniness that continues onto the structured, firm and equally stony middle weight flavors that display truly beautiful delineation on the balanced, intense and energetic finish that is perhaps just a bit richer if not longer than usual. I like the underlying sense of reserve and tension here." Comments: Outstanding.
This is a great option for holiday gifts...if there's any left!
