A Classic Chassagne Montrachet

Classic Chassagne MontrachetTo bring in the spring season with some style, I recently opened a bottle of 2010 Bruno Colin Chassagne Montrachet En Remilly (93 Points - Wine Spectator).

This is a high quality and rich textured white Burgundy, and you immediately notice the apple and lemon up front.  At its long finish, it's the classic limestone/mineral characteristics that I've grown to love in white Burgundies.  It's also very balanced which is how I prefer it- It has the fruit, the acidity, and the minerality in great harmony.

It should be noted that 2010 was a spectacular vintage for white Burgundy.  Across the board, everyone who knows Burgundy is raving about 2010.

Dave Sokolin is quite fond of the outstanding 2010 Burgundy vintage.  He enthusiastically stated, "2010 is the best vintage of White Burgundy ever?like a combo of the power of 1990 and the honey/richness of 1989."

Burghound.com reported, "?the 2010 white Burgundy vintage produced many, many classic wines that should be capable of extraordinary longevity?"

Bruno Colin is the 4th generation of winemakers in his family.  Bruno and his wife, Stephanie, are considered to be quintessential Burgundy producers.  They have eight hectares of land-30 different parcels distributed over 5 communes, with sometimes as little as a few rows per parcel.  This seemingly less than efficient arrangement is due to family inheritance laws in Burgundy that are rooted in Roman law.  This particular wine was bottled in March 2012 and will drink nicely at least until the end of the decade.

There were only 50 cases imported into the U.S., and we have a few to offer at $67.99/bottle.  This is a perfect wine for the spring-to welcome in some warmer, but still crisp, days.

Bruno himself described his 2010s as, "?wonderfully fresh and pure with excellent precision and transparency."

Food Pairing:
The 2010 Bruno Colin Chassagne Montrachet En Remilly will go great with lobster and flavorful fish, such as sea bass.  Also, it's perfect for a pesto based pasta dish (my favorite!).

Music Pairing:
Serge Gainsbourg's monumental "Histoire de Melody Nelson" - The wine and the music are perfect complements to each other.
