Bordeaux Blanc for Summer

Bordeaux Blanc for Summer

Summer is finally here, and we have the greatest wines for you to enjoy this season and beyond! You may commonly spend sunny days enjoying a glass of California Chardonnay, a crisp Chablis or a lovely, sought-after Rosé – and those are all terrific choices. But today, we're turning the spotlight to a group of outstanding wines that is sometimes overlooked – white Bordeaux. While Bordeaux is famous for many of its top pedigree red wines, several of its white wines also deserve attention and a spot in your wine lineup, especially during the summer months.

“I love drinking white Bordeaux in the summer! It's just so fresh and clean. Every time I pop a bottle of Bordeaux Blanc for friends, it creates a new fan. It's basically the best Sauvignon Blanc with some Semillon to make it a tad richer than others.” – Dave Sokolin

We're sharing a few of our favorites below. These are some of the best you can get, and the prices are so low compared to white Burgundy. These wines offer pedigree galore at prices you'll be excited about!

2021 Lions de Suduiraut Bordeaux Blanc Sec – “I love this stuff!” – Dave Sokolin. This 94 pointer comes from a great producer and delivers beyond its $22.99 price tag. It offers exactly what you're looking for in a summer white and is a blend made of 52% Semillon and 48% Sauvignon Blanc. “This estate makes a bevy of terrific dry whites in addition to an incredible Sauternes.” – Jeb Dunnuck. Perfect to serve at your next dinner party with seafood.

2020 Carbonnieux Blanc – this is an old school legend that's drinking well now – 2035. It's known to be “one of the benchmark wines for white Pessac.” – Decanter. A blend of 65% Sauvignon Blanc and 35% Semillon, this is a very pretty and delicious wine to enjoy on sunny days. With 93 points and priced at only $39.99, 2020 Carbonnieux Blanc is a great choice for summer.

2020 Pape Clement Blanc – there are only a handful of 100 point white wines in history, and most of them cost thousands of dollars per bottle. 2020 Pape Clement Blanc is perfection and is priced at only $159 / bottle! This is as good and even higher scoring than Haut Brion Blanc that sells for $1,200 / bottle! If you're a white Burgundy fan, try this white Bordeaux – it's a refreshing change that will blow you away. This is safely the lowest priced 100 point white Bordeaux ever. It's a blend of 55% Sauvignon Blanc and 45% Semillon. Very limited quantities are remaining.

Cheers!
