2009 Lynch Bages Steals the Show!

2009 Lynch BagesThis year marks the thirteenth year anniversary of the historic 2009 Bordeaux vintage. If you’re a back-vintage Bordeaux drinker or collector, we have an amazing feature today from this top vintage that’s not to be missed – 2009 Lynch Bages.

Robert Parker has retired from rating new vintages of Bordeaux, leaving 2009 as one of the best vintages he's ever tasted. "2009 is the greatest vintage I have tasted in Bordeaux since 1982, of which it is a modern-day version, but greatly improved." - Robert Parke

Lynch Bages is a fan-favorite Bordeaux amongst many wine lovers and drinkers. "Lynch Bages always steals the show, and it costs less than the wines it beats. I’m calling it one of the world's most recognized, sought-after, yet under-priced wines. I’m amazed by how low the prices are for this top ten Bordeaux estate." - Dave Sokolin

The 2009 vintage received a 98 point score from Robert Parker and is drinking well now – 2042. It also happens to be Dave Sokolin’s all-time favorite vintage! Robert Parker has also said, the 2009 vintage "...appears to be the finest Lynch Bages since the 2000, 1990 and 1989." Finally, wine critic James Suckling said of the 2009 Lynch Bages, “Fabulous Lynch. One of the top buys of the vintage. Best since 1989.”

"What is so appealing about Lynch Bages is that it has long been a classic Pauillac that...clearly possesses what most wine insiders love about Pauillac - lots of robust, rich, full-bodied, creme de cassis fruit, 25-30 years of aging potential in top vintages, and an enormously satisfying, complex style." - Robert Parker

Don’t miss this high-scoring vintage that comes in an original wood case priced at only $255! Quantities are dwindling quickly!

Cheers!

2018 BV Georges de Latour Private Reserve

Beaulieu Vineyard, established in 1900 by Georges de Latour and his wife, is said to be the first Napa Valley Cult Wine. Georges and his wife originally bought four acres and over the next several decades, expanded their land holdings. Georges set out to produce wines that rivaled French wines, and that he did.

Beaulieu Vineyard is one of the oldest and most historic estates in Napa. Their first vintage of Private Reserve was released in 1940, “a wine that was destined to become Napa Valley’s first “cult” Cabernet. In 70+ years since, Georges de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon has become the benchmark of Napa Valley Cabernet as one of the most collected American wines.” – Beaulieu Vineyard

“The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Georges de Latour Private Reserve is fabulous. Inky, rich and explosive, the 2018 is a fine addition to the lineage of one of Napa Valley's most historic wines. Inky red fruit, chocolate, leather and licorice all open in the glass. Aeration brings out floral top notes, raspberry and a hint of blood orange… The 2018 is sensational.” – Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

"The famous wine lives up to its historic promise in this wonderfully complex and structured vintage, the wine showing an abundance of tension and youthful grip." – Wine Enthusiast

Three Tuscan Value Wines We’re Loving Right Now!

2018 La GaffeliereWe love finding inexpensive wines from amazing producers that deliver beyond their price point, and we have a feeling that you do too! It’s one of the most fun and interesting sides of this business. Today, we’re sharing three Italian gems, all from Tuscany and all priced under $45. These fan favorites are from terrific producers, offer great quality and are perfect to add into your wine rotation.

2019 Castello Banfi Chianti Classico – This wine was named as Wine Spectator’s #2 Top Value Wine of 2021, and at only $14.99, it’s one to pick up today. Banfi is a family owned wine producer known for their amazing Brunellos, but they also produce other wines in Tuscany, including a terrific Chianti collection. Take advantage of this low price for a wine coming from a top producer with great pedigree. It will sell out quickly!

2019 Sette Ponti Crognolo – You may know Tenuta Sette Ponti for their flagship wine, Oreno, but they also make Crognolo, which consistently ranks among our best-selling value wines. This 94 point, Super-Tuscan style wine is a steal at only $32.99. It pairs great with spaghetti and meatballs, lamb, steak or pizza. Quantities are quickly dwindling, so if this is a favorite wine of yours, order your case quickly before it’s gone for good!

2019 San Guido Guidalberto – If you’re looking to experience the pedigree of Sassicaia (one of the best wines in the world) for less, Guidalberto is San Guido’s second wine and gives a peek into this top producing estate. Same vines, same winemaker, but at a fraction of the price. For perspective, 2019 Guidablerto is priced at $44.99 compared to recent vintages of Sassicaia priced in the $200 - $300+ range. Guidalberto always offers fantastic value and has been a Sokolin customer favorite for many years. The 2019 vintage has a 95 point score is drinking great now - 2029.

A 99 Point Bordeaux – Only $105 – Very Limited!

2018 La GaffeliereIf you’re a Bordeaux fan and in search of a wine that delivers beyond its price, don’t miss this mega deal! We’re excited to offer this 99 point Saint Emilion for only $105 – 2018 La Gaffeliere. “Saint-Emilion delivers in 2018. If you want to talk about genuine “best wines ever made” or “pinnacles of achievement,” then this is where to come.” – Neal Martin, Vinous Media

Also noted by Neal Martin in his coverage of the 2018 Bordeaux vintage was how well some Saint Emilion chateaux performed “beyond the elite names.” La Gaffeliere is included in his small list of chateaux that deliver “the best value for the money.”

La Gaffeliere is Pavie’s next door neighbor and sells for a fraction of the price. “La Gaffeliere’s roots as a vineyard date back to the 1500s, and its glory days were in the early 1960s, but today it’s a “reborn estate” making world-class wines. But the prices haven’t caught up to the revamp yet, and this could be a $500 - $1,000 wine in the future – think Cheval Blanc. It beats Pavie and Cheval Blanc at a fraction of the price.” – Dave Sokolin

Just look at the chart below to get a look at how 2018 La Gaffeliere compares to other 2018 Saint Emilion Grand Crus, and you’ll see what a great buy it is.

2018 St. Emilion Grand Cru Chart Score $/Bottle
2018 Chateau La Gaffeliere 99 VM $105
2018 Chateau Angelus 97 VM $550+
2018 Chateau Pavie 97 VM $560+
2018 Chateau Cheval Blanc 98 VM $1,030+
2018 Chateau Ausone 99 VM $1,250+

Antonio Galloni gave 2018 La Gaffeliere an impressive 99 point score and had the following to say:

"hands down one of the wines of the vintage." - VM

"the 2018 dazzles right out of the gate." - VM

"another magnificent showing from this reborn estate." – VM

Don’t miss this gem – it won’t last long!

Cheers!

“2019 could be the red Burgundy vintage of the century, and this hits the bullseye on the complexity that I'm looking for in expensive Burgundy." – Dave Sokolin

"2019 is a hedonistic vintage that will take its place alongside other exceptional recent years in Burgundy... If you love great Burgundy, you should think about securing some 2019s quickly. Given current pricing trends, they will never be cheaper than they are now." – Decanter

Today, we’re sharing this amazing deal from the 2019 vintage - 2019 Domaine Rapet Pere et Fils Corton. This high-scoring, 94 point Grand Cru red Burgundy is a winner, and we’re offering it at a market low price of only $76.95. And when we compare 2019 Domaine Rapet Pere et Fils Corton to the top Cortons from this vintage (see the chart below), it’s definitely one to scoop up!

Top 2019 Cortons Score Price
2019 DRC Corton Grand Cru 92-94 RP $2,000+
2019 Meo Camuzet Corton Les Perrieres Grand Cru 92-94 RP $300+
2019 Ponsot Corton Grand Cru du Bourdon 92-94 RP $250

If you’re a fan of Rapet’s wines or just want to try out this vintage, act quickly on our market low price of $76.95.

A Limited Production, 95 Point Oregon Pinot Noir That’s Worth Seeking Out

A Limited Production, 95 Point Oregon Pinot Noir That’s Worth Seeking OutIt’s a new year and a fresh start! If you’re looking for a new, exciting wine to experience at the start of 2022, we have the answer! We’re thrilled to share this 95 point Pinot Noir from Oregon that we’re loving right now.

Demand for Oregon Pinot Noir has surpassed Sonoma Coast over the past few months, and our private wine consultants receive daily inquiries for Oregon Pinot Noir.

We just received in a very limited quantity of 2019 Brick House Pinot Noir Les Dijonnais ($51.99 / btl), which received 95 points in Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate – the highest score to date. The Brick House, in Ribbon Ridge of Willamette Valley, looks out over eight acres of Dijon clone vines planted a quarter century ago on a full south slope that are biodynamically grown and Demeter certified.

The ‘Les Dijonnais’ Pinot Noir represents the best barrels of the superior fruit from this warm site.

In contrast with the Pommard clone bottlings, the ‘Les Dijonnais’ Pinot Noir offers a more floral interpretation of the grape often considered “ethereal” and “elegant”, yet the palate still delivers a “silky richness.”

Less than 700 cases made and most of this is set for restaurants and club members, so don’t miss this terrific buying opportunity. The 2019 Brick House Pinot Noir Les Dijonnais is worth seeking out, and it’s perfect to enjoy now and over the next decade!

Cheers!
