Ulysses is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. It comes from the Dominus team and Christian Moueix, maker of the iconic Dominus and Petrus. Moueix acquired Ulysses vineyard in 2008 and produced its first vintage in 2012. This property is just south of To Kalon and a bit north of Moueix’s Napanook, producing only 1300 cases in 2016. The winemaker of Ulysses is Tod Mostero who is also the winemaker at Dominus. Calling all California Cabernet lovers! This is a deal you don’t want to miss! Today, we’re featuring the 97 point 2015 Capture Cabernet Sauvignon Revelation, a super limited production Cabernet from northern Sonoma county with only 217 cases made.

Owner and winemaker, Denis Malbec, was actually born at Chateau Latour where his family had worked for the famous Pauillac first growth while growing up. Denis honed his skills as the Cellar Master at Chateau Latour from 1994 – 2000.

In 2000, after a visit to California, he decided to make the move to the US permanent. Malbec was the winemaker for Kapcsandy and Blankiet before launching Capture, which sits 3,000 feet above sea level in the Mayacamas mountains. Sadly, Denis Malbec suddenly passed away in 2016, and the property has been recently sold.
